Details and Instructions on the Event Who: Two teams (up to 2 flags each) and up to two games. Where: TBD (We can decide the day of) When: May 30, 4:30 PM PDT Prize: TBD - (May be withdrawn if problems arise) Registration: Captains please register for your team here. Depending on how many people registering we can even do more than one of these at a time. Registration will be on a first come first served basis. Registration Deadline: Saturday May 29, Midnight PDT - We may accept one more after the deadline. Registration Information: - Captain name (should have the ability to Flag broadcast, or have someone around who can. - Flag Name (up to two flags) - Approximate size of team (just a rough rough estimate, I know it's impossible to know exactly) Damsels needed: We'll need two Damsels per game, preferably someone who is not associated with either flag. Again this will be on a first come basis, with preference to unallied pirates. Damsels should have achieved at least the rank of officer in a crew. Damsels will be responsible for helping to score, so keep in mind it's not a do-nothing position. Please read Damsel information before volunteering! Captain Information: - Have several ships supplied and ready for the event, however, because we do not yet know the location I will whisk them to your "home" island. (I will also whisk one other ship for the occasion if ye want to have a "supply" ship) PLEASE have all ships at the same location so they are easy to whisk back. - The exact number of ships will be determined once we see how many people are participating, between 5 and 10 cutters. - Report to Artemis on May 30 at 4:00PM PDT for ship whisks and to determine the playing fields. - Know what method you wish to use for the other team to "capture the damsel" Disclaimers: - Statements made in this post overrule statements made in the linked pose (feel free to point out differences so everyone is aware.) - Due to the possibility of Blockades I realize teams may have to withdraw from the game. - I reserve the right to make last minute changes as far as opponents, islands, damsels or anything else. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Artemis at May 26, 2004 1:03:35 AM] |

I most likely won't be able to subscribe again by the time the event starts so i would like to volunteer myself for a damsel. Put me as a back-up since i might not be able to be a damsel even. But then again, i'm guessing about 200 people have volunteered to be a damsel, so..... whatever ---------------------------------------- You never really know what you have, until its gone. All these people wanting to be rescued... and always a damsel, never a dame? I think yer teams are going to need frigate or galleon class ships just to carry all the damsels, assuming that they're in the mass-rescue business and not just out to try and win the event! Hope it goes well; I'll read all about it next week. Well, while we had many damsels the teams part seemed a bit lacking. I was still trying to run the event, but things got a tad busy, sorry! I'll try to have everything all set for next time. I already have several cutters renamed and stocked. Anyway, next time I shall be better prepared! And I hope we can spark a bit more interest in it as well. |

Part of the problem may just be the size of the event. To participate, and people even 5 cutters, requires a minimum of 35 people, 50 preferred. Then add the damsel's guard, you have a HUGE people need. I don't think it's hard to get 100 people to play in this. I think it's hard to get two existing flags that large to commit all that many people. We just need two sides capable of fielding all the ships, jobbers are just a broadcast away... Although part of the strategy that I've thought up requres some full cutters and some empty... (anyone for sneaking through enemy lines undermanned? *cough* Blackshipped *cough*) |
