Round Two Final stage approaching! Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Sunday August 19th will begin the Feedback phase of Round Two. On that day, I will post a separate feedback thread for each of the puzzles that is marked as "phase 6". For two weeks, everybody will be encouraged to focus on these particular puzzles and provide feedback on which ones would be great choices for the next YPP crafting puzzle.

Please note that the judging for Round Two will be for weaving, tailoring and furnishing puzzles only. Foraging and construction puzzles need to wait.

What needs to be done:
  • Finish coding/polishing your puzzle. When you have finished polishing, send me a PM saying it is officially Phase 6. The puzzle must be playable online, but can be a Java applet, Netlogo applet, Flash program, Game Gardens program, javascript, or similar game that can be played in a browser. You are strongly encouraged to post a separate copy as your official submission, since from August 19th until the industry chosen is announced you will not be allowed to change your game (code freeze).

  • Make a Quickstart image for your game, or a set of simple text Quickstart instructions. Place this on your wiki proposal near the top, and include a link to your online game. You are not required to update the wiki proposal to match the game exactly at that point, however it will help avoid confusion by testers if the wiki does mostly correspond to the game.

  • Adding a link to a video of a typical game is a good idea but not required.

  • As time remains before August 19th, help other projects by testing them and giving feedback while there is still time for improvements to be made.

  • On August 19th change your feedback from "how to improve" on the main proposal threads to "is this a good choice for YPP?" on the feedback threads. If you make any code changes other than minor bug fixes, they should be done on a different copy of the program than the official submission.

Coders: You will have three choices for the code freeze. You may agree to make no changes at all for the 6+ weeks that will be needed before a decision is announced, you may post a separate "official submission" copy and then keep working on a different copy, or for Game Gardens games you may provide a link where your source code can be downloaded. Please let me know which option you will be choosing.

Puzzles that are not ready in time for Round 2 will have a nice head start on Round 3! ;-)

Questions about this process may be posted as replies in this thread.
