[size=16]Purely Logic: Hunt for the Who-Done-It ... Hunt

See the winners here!

booched The following information has been released: Greg was heard to say that Geretrude is completely insane. Anyone formerly submitting their answer may resubmit for another 24 hours if need be.

Also, Comments made by ghosts should be treated as two separate clues strung together by the word "and" rather than taking the entire sentence as X and Y using the logical sense of the word and.

Deadline: Saturday at Midnight, PST (i.e. 11:59PM)

See the Winter Solstice Notice Board for more information on how to solve this mystery! Information for all three parts will be posted there throughout the week.

Clues: Find the clues throughout the archipelagos. Clues will not be moved or deleted once they are posted. Anything found in a player owned area is not part of this event. Clues will be placed throughout this week. No announcement will be made when all clues have been posted, nor should you ask Artemis or anyone else about them. Questions or comments on this event can be posted to the forums or you can contact Artemis in-game or via e-mail (Artemis@threerings.net)

Teams: You are welcome to work in teams, but please list all team members in your submission. Please also be aware that the top (1st) prize will be awarded only to an individual.

Submissions: Submit as an e-mail to Artemis@threerings.net, including the answers to all three parts (or whatever you can finish, since partial prizes will be awarded where possible/needed). Please include some explanation of how you found your answers to Parts 2 and 3 (not 1!)and a short paragraph (about 100 words, give or take) on how the murder took place. Extra points for making me laugh.

Deadline: Saturday at Midnight, PST

Prizes:
1st: Parrot for the best submission meeting all criteria mentioned below, or as determined by Artemis. Extra points for submitting it early and for a good story about the murder.
2nd: A fine ship and perhaps some commodities to make it interesting.
3rd: A smaller ship, perhaps, and slightly less interesting commodities.
Other: Monetary prizes will be given as seen fit for partial submissions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Questions:
- The week starts on Monday.
- One day is 24 hours. One day before Friday is Thursday, Two days before Friday is Wednesday.
- Two of the listed monarchs have stepped down, but this has no effect on the puzzle. Just imagine this took place last week when it was true!

Edited by the God of Grammar, Hermes: Try and find an error now, you meanie-heads.

Just curious if you're planning on using officer boards on the navy. (Because let me tell you, they were a freaking pain in the butt to search from a non-home arch this morning :-P )

If ye don't want te tell, that's fine. Was hoping for a straight up answer though :-P

It's also spelled assassination. As in two donkeys.

And it should be "skeletons", not "skeleton's".

I just LOVE pointint out grammar / spelling errors made my OM's.

In Britain and the US at least, and I think Australia got their grammar from the Empire, so...

Well, I'll look into it. But my short answer: In the UK and US, yes.

I'm beginning to think that someone is editing my post just to be mean.

Oh, and I've just about solved your puzzle anyway, so nyeh.

Also, it's a well-known rule: the more prestige, the more important it is to point out any errors made.

Now, I know some people know which shops are OM owned, and which aren't, but for those of us new here, can ye give us a clue as to where to find the clues?

From what I understand:
OM owned shops
Navy vessels, navigation table, officer's log

Is this correct? Be this where I start?

Ok, I've found 6 of the 7 clues. For those like me who are complete newbies, I'll fill in enough to get you started.

Look on each island (at least) for clues. In the areas NOT controlled by players, you'll find clues. How do you tell what's a player owned area?

Well, for 4 of the islands, the govenor isn't a player, so find out who the govenor is, and then any shops owned by that person are possible places where clues are.

Again, there appears to be 7 clues. I've found one on each colonized island so far, and still have no clue where #7 is. I don't even know if it was posted yet or not.

And that's just for solving the first of three parts to this puzzle.

Now, a more serious question: Who are the monarchs? If I understand correctly, there are 6 monarchs that had attempts on their lives, but two of them have (real game world) stepped down. So even if we could find out who the monarchs are today, only 4 of those 6 are the ones we want. Who were the two monarchs that stepped down? How do we even find out who's the monarchs of the flags?

Long John Grey
(Who's probably really showing just how new he is in this post.)

p.s. As if that wasn't bad enough, in part two, one of those 6 will actually succede, yet part one requires us to tell how each of the 6 failed. Now how can it fail for part 1 AND succede for part 2? Don't have that clue yet.
