Ahoy pirates, or should I say, PoEts? Welcome to the "PoE is for PoEts!" contest. This is a contest wich will make ye expand yer poetry veins to the maximum (I hope). This be a contest, that ye can either write a love PoEm, a limerick PoEm, anything that goes in yer piratey head*! On to the rules, shall we? ?*All the PoEms must be related to pirates, bucaneers, piratey style etc. ?Ye may only post 2 PoEmS. ?All posts must be written in this thread. ?Ye cannot post 2 threads, 1 after another, ye may only write 1 PoEm at a time. ?This contest applies to all Oceans. ?Any doubts and/or questions will be answered by me, so don't be afraid, ask away. And now, the cherry on top of the cake...The prizes! ?First prize is, 10k. ?Second prize is, 5k. ?Third prize is, 2.5k The Deadline: The "PoE is for PoEts" contest will end in 30th February 2007. When 30th Feb. comes into town, I will not accept any more werks. Final Notes: When the winners are anounced I will try to spot'em as quickly as I can. I want to see creative werks! Abusive or offensive posts will be deleted and reported. Good luck, and good imagination PoEts! Any particular ocean? "werks" ? A couple of suggestions for your event post: * Run your post through a spell checker before you click 'post' * Not to be mean, but excessive colourising in posts tends to give the impression of a slightly green poster - try using just one readable colour * I assume you're providing the prizes yourself, which is very admirable, but I also assume that by posting in the main events forum, you have the poe to give away on all 5 oceans? If not, try posting in an ocean specific forum. * Picking up on what Syn said, make sure the date you wish to end your competition on actually exists. * It's often a good idea to create a separate entry thread (located in Mariner's Muse) and to link to that thread in your first post. That way, the entry thread will hopefully be less cluttered and all questions can be addressed in this thread. First of all don't worry I have the PoE to cover all the prizes, and this thread werks for any ocean (Cobalt, Midnight, Sage bla bla bla.) *Werks- is a way to say works but in pirat(ish) way, case ye don't know. The Date was already corrected on my last post. Yes i'm still kinda greeny in this forum contest organization, as this is my first contest. Don't worry I can answer all of yer questions in this post, because I think it's not necessary to make 2 posts, assuming that'll ocuppy space to other "who knows, much important posts", assuming that 1 thread is clear enough to post PoEms and answer quests. at the same time. And btw, thank ye for all yer suggestions, I will try to give'm some use on my next event post. And lol, where can I find that spell-checker? It would be usefull since i'm not english nor american ^_^ . Ta-ta... I wanna post a PoEm too, altough this will not count ;0). PoEm of my borrowed heart... For centuries, milleniums I gave ye my love My soul and my spirit Now lie inside of yer burning body 'till it resigns to its own ashes Fading away, as the myst seems to vanish Ye borrowed my heart Filled with hope and desire But yet, ye used and abused it All for yer own purpose All for yer own sake All for yer own dreams and hopes Without remembering me, and the pain That for ye I suffered... Ye didn't give me back my precious... My only reliable and faithfull tool... My heart... Now take these ashes of mine... Save'm, use'em wiselly... As that my love... Will be the last piece of me ye borrowed From me, from myself. Ye took my heart, and now... Ye borrowed my soul as well as my spirit... And without thinking of the unthinkable... I vanished, like the myst that sails across the Oceans As well as my heart and my soul Ye borrowed from me, and now it shall fade Just like ye will... It is? I know children tend to use these odd spelling of words to look cool, but they don't really look cool deliberately misspelling words, now do they? Perhaps you are seeing it along the lines with words like yer and fer, though. =)
Get yourself the google toolbar. Its a nice thing to have and it has spell check right in it. It also has a translator button you can add to it to help translate pages and such. ---------------------------------------- The name is Synful. ------------------------ Avatar by myself |

For the record, Syn was helping you. I don't think that constitutes as spam--she's giving ye advice that will help your event run more smoothly! (this is also why, as someone pointed out earlier, most creative events have a separate thread in the Muse for entries--so participants and organizer alike don't have to be annoyed by questions and advice in the Events announcement thread, and entries can live together in harmony in one happy spam-free thread). So tell me good man, for I would know Upon which ocean will you reward the dough? I have looked upon the rules for mention but it seems that you left that out, was that your intention? Arr, pirates live a life of jolly sea works if you thought you would never rob clerks you just need to pillage just make sure you dont get a burnage loading and firing cannons, even meet someone named Shannonz Niboles on the sage ocean it just stinks because i wont win. |

Shouting is not necessary, tho had you been better prepared and mentioned it in your original posting it might have been a bit more clear. The cap'n was startin to get on me nerves, Obviously drunk he sung as we swerved. The wheel in one hand, in the other some rum, Too drunk to sail, his mind was all numb. And of what happened next I wasn't too pleased, "PULL YOUR SLOOP OVER" said the authorities. The captin looked, stared with dismay, At the giant frigate, comin our way. "RUN AWAY, ALL TO SAIL!" The captin said, as he reached for his ale. We did as he said, we did with great haste, But the Frigate persisted and mounted a chace. We quickly put distance between us and them, The situation, it seemed, started to mend. The captin was joyess, not looking where he be going, He steered us into a rock, the size of a Bowing. It made a bad sound though the captin didn't fret. Nothing phased him, not a rock the size of a jet. Nothing, at all or so it seemed, Until the Frigate caught up "Uh-Oh" he screamed. On day, I met a pirate, He really was quite mean. The look of his face, And his greasy embrace, It made my face turn green. He had an black patch on his eye, And also a stick instead leg. His breath was foul, So I gave a howl, Cause it smelt like rotten egg. He looked like a really ugly skellie, Like something scary from the creep, Like a deformed pig, Who somehow turned big, Even his fingers were creapy. The Sad Tale of Grogpeg Joe Arg, this be the tale of Grogpeg Joe, he loved a good pillage, rum and PoE. When he was a cabin boy waiting fer the "Land ahoy!!" he saw a PoE while boarding a foe but avast, it was tied to the nest of the crow. Quickly a parry! Taunt! Slash! None had heard such a battle clash! 'Yarrr me mateys, yarrrrr!! YARRRR!!The victory isn't far!!' Soon finished was the battle, the enemy fought like dairy cattle. Booty was fair, PoE, rum, and cannon balls fer a hefty sum! But Joe got greedy; didn't think his best, and started climbing to the crow's nest. Poor young Joe didn't see at all, fer thick smoke and fog; he slipped and fastly down did fall and landed on a barrel of grog. There, young mateys, learn from that: don't let the PoE get into yer hat so ye won't end with the same kind of a leg as old Joe; all there is is a grog-smelling peg. |

Yo-Ho Yo-Ho A Pirates Life For Me I pillaged and pillaged for days upon end, Then you came and asked me for money to lend, I replied to you " I have none for ye", You looked at me puzzled "How can that be?", "I used all my PoE to buy a new sword", I fought my way up and became a lord. I went into a blockade disguised as a cook, The ship went and sunk and i found me a hook, I got my pay for working as a jobber, The captain and I rumbled, i gave him a clobber, I went to the docks and talked to a greenie, I gave him no PoE, so he called me a " meanie!". The Inn was next on my traveling list, I went to the tournament board, and joined Hand Over Fist I got into the semi's to lose to an Ult, I said " I lagged out!, it wasn't my fault!", I went and played poker with the PoE i had earnt, I got rivered again, my ego was burnt. with no more PoE left in my hand, i went off to pillage and foraged on land, I begged and i begged to upgrade my rank, but me and my mouth got me the plank, With little PoE and no trinket to hold I'm back at the beginning of this story i told. ---------------------------------------- -Captainloki hunter ocean only- Captain and taskmaster of the crew -Tenacity And Torment- Aphrodite tells you: "Are you sure you really want me to have your skull?" |

We talked briefly Then I said neatly, "I must be off again." Even though me small dot eyes full of emotion, I gazed out to the ocean, Perhaps me one and only blue love Would have to share? But how to make 'em love me? A love potion, I declared. My crew all gasped As me mind had lasped And there was me text, hangin' in the air. Now few knew me plan To capture the bearded man's heart; To lavish him in pie and poe and tarts. But me potion was a-brewin', And we were recruitin' So a greenie can't always afford that. The day had come To kidnap me love To take the hostage of me heart; I tracked 'im down Till I found He was nowhere me pryin' eyes could see. Roamin' the seas, Are you lookin' fer me? Me pixelated heart is yours. Nemo, love, the rumors ain't true I ain't stalkin' you It's just called obsessive love. Oh, yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum Love's all great fun 'Til your capture's heart starts to run And now me story is done. ---------------------------------------- Heartstone of teh.. Jobber from Hates: Have ye ever been trapped in a pillage, with yer ship halfway under the sea, when the carp meters filled to the maximum, and the bilgewaters up to yer knee, and suddenly all the crews hopes rise when a grey carrier pigeon lands, tied to its leg is a paper, with a note from a fresh hand, you eagerly accept the offer to job, expecting a pro, tough and lean, then the jobber is wisked straight before ye, and ye see that his name's a bright green, perhaps he will still be of help, if we dont have more jobbers we'll sink, maybe this ones a fast learner, or maybe its an alt,you think, "Hurry, and please grab a station! you say, and he says "Its ok, ill keep watch!", as he climbs to the top of the crows nest, he asks you "So when do we dock?", "It depends on how well we sail, now get down from the crowsnest," you say, "you must grab a station quite quickly, or ill never give you any pay!" He says "Fine then, now move, let me drive, 'cause im tired of watching the sea!" you say "Not in this lifetime greenie, now get carping, yer pay isnt free!" He says "Who do you think that you are, to order me to and fro, do you think im your personal servant?" "I tell you ill not stoop so low!" "Please just get on the bilge, pronto!" you say "No!" he replies as he runs, with great zeal to the gundeck below, to experiment with powder and guns, "Dont touch the ammo!" you shout through the storm, but hes already gone through the door, he loads up the cannons with powder and ammo six cannon balls smash through the floor, "Oops, i forgot to aim it!" he says, and gives it another try, this volley rips throught the main sail, only narrowly missing your eye, his next shots go sailing overboard, you sigh with great relief, till you finally realise they're headed, to the Admiral island reef, the cannonfire unloads on pedestrians, bringing terror throughout all the land, all around them buildings and trees, go crashing down into the sand, "We're under attack!!!" the governer shouts, "It must be the skellies or sure!" "Evacuate!" he crys in panic, as cannon balls pound into the shore, then some trigger happy sailors who have been waiting for something to shoot, returne fire to the menacing ship, hoping for booty and loot, a loose cannon ball much to your horror, rolls into the magazine, and then comes the biggest explosion, that anyone has aver seen, and a chain reaction ensues, moving from ship to ship, destroying the archipelago, all because of one greenies slip, and when the aftermath is finished, and the smoke has finally cleared, when the carnage is finished the caos is done, it confirmes what the ringers feared, that the jade archipleagos completely destroyed, not a single survivor but one, floating on a piece of driftwood, a lone greenie basks in the sun. ---------------------------------------- Don't have time to play and havent in a long time, but I'm still here to torment all of you!
