The Sage Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles Bilge Bake-off!

Date: May 30th
Time: 11:00 am PDT (jobbing from 10:30am PDT)
Event Host: Hypnotica
Participation limit: 145

Rules:

The event will not be broadcast. Thirty minutes before the event begins, Hypnotica will start jobbing entrants onto the grand frigate Water Mark. Send her a /tell for a job any time after 10:30 am game time (PDT). Please ensure you have DND turned off. It is impossible to see the bottom of the chat screen while jobbing people, and if you have DND turned on, the "that person does not wish to be disturbed" response will not be seen. Once jobbed, please stay on the Water Mark so that we can keep track of numbers. There is no need to dive for a station. Everyone will get a chance.

Hypnotica reserves the right to either not job or plank people for /tell spamming for a job. This may result in a lower than maximum number of participants. Please do not spam her with tells to let friends that did not make the original count on board to participate.

There will be ONE preliminary round, lasting 20 sea battle turns, taking place on the grand frigate Water Mark.
All participants will take part at the same time.

When the ship returns to port, the duty report listing will determine who proceeds to the semi-finals. The top 16 puzzlers will progress to the semi-final.

The semi-final round of 16 players will last for 20 sea battle turns. All 16 players will participate on the Water Mark for the semi-final. The top 3 will continue on to the finals.

The final will take place on board the Water Mark. The final will last 30 sea battle turns.

Disclaimers:
In the event of lower than expected participation, the number of rounds may be reduced, likewise the number who continue on to the semi-finals and finals may change.

Helpers
Barrelholder and Zava are the two players that will help with this event. Primary duties will be filling cannons to mark time in all rounds and confirming announced results from the duty report.

Players may choose one prize for their own prize tier or any lower one, but not from a higher one.

Re: The Sage Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles Bilge Bake-off!

Question: I know the first round will have no bilge with the mass amount of bilgers and probably the second as well, but what about the finals? Will the finals be bilged in full bilge like the Midnight one? I hope not since a lot of it is lucky crab placement with a touch of skill that will determine the winner. I'd prefer it to stay dry (we could always move to another ship to ensure that) as that is the "true bilging skill" that a bake-off should be measuring.

Regardless, I'll be there...was just wondering so I might practice with full bilge before the bake-off.

you're right - I dunno if that's how they meant it. Becuase full bilge is, as you said, crabs, crabs, and more crabs.

By the way, by saying what you just said, you are implying you will make it to the finals :P. Not a bad thing - I like the optimism.

Full bilge just means ya gotta do your bingos on 3 top rows and some crabs

Well, I was asking as if I had made the finals. Never said I would, but I do have a chance, aye. I made it to the semis and finished 8th (I think?) at the Viridian bilge bake-off, and that bilging in the semis wasn't near my best, so I'm saying I have a shot at finals. Who knows, I may end up booching the first round completely and not even make the semis.

If you're referring to "Regardless, I'll be there..." I meant I will try my hardest at the bake-off regardless of the final round status. I would *prefer* a dry ship as skill > luck there but if it's full of bilge, and I make the finals, I'm gonna still try. :P

With no disrespect to Faldrok, I wouldn't give anyone 5 to 1 odds to make the finals. The competition at these bakeoffs is always incredibly fierce.

Re: The Sage Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles Bilge Bake-off!

Personally, I just think Kerix is too big for his Pantaloons since he beat me in the Viridian bake-off. :P

But, let's take the Viridian and Midnight bake-offs. Vader (his Sage name) was the #1 bilger in the semis at Midnight, but booched and didn't happen to make the semis at Viridian. I mean...yeah, he did bad one time and great the next, so you just never know what is going to happen.

/em feels like being the bad guy.

Any posts like "i am in" are only:
1-Some kind of spam
2-Wastes people time with reading them
3-Have no good for you =)

Dont forget to turn off your "DND" and send a tell to "Hypnotica" 30 mins before the event. (10:30am PDT).

Just a friendly reminder that this is the only way you will be "in" this bake-off event ;)
