One, that is an excellent avatar. Can you tell us who drew it? Two, I don't suppose All Oceans means that Ice will be getting a familiar contest at long last? Because that would make my day/week/year and it would add a really interesting dynamic to the player distribution. ---------------------------------------- Orsino, Viridian ocean Forum-mute: your best friend

While I absolutely love you for finally giving us a TD familiar tourney, and I'm not complaining, I just have to ask....why holes? Why, oh, why? ---------------------------------------- Epimetheus Retired |

Partially out of spite... but mostly because I think they're neat.
All production oceans. Ice scares me. Too cold. |

I've got to say I'm extremely pleased with the sets of familiar tourneys. Holes Tdrop is double plus fun, and the drinking will be a good change of pace. I played in a big Longsword only tourney on Viridian last week, and it's an interesting game. Lots of fun. Good work! ---------------------------------------- Leif The Forums

Is Midnight going to stay in the regular tourney-familiar scheme or is this just a one off? ---------------------------------------- Rmarzbarr, a Superlemon! |

I say Kudos for making all the tournaments on the oceans at the same time. ALthough there will be complaints against times, as always is, at least now people MIGHT stay on their home ocean to get their familiars. I know there will always be double clienting going on but hey, if they can win a familiar contest while double clienting, I say they deserve that familiar! ---------------------------------------- The name is Synful. ------------------------ Avatar by myself |

I have the most minor nitpick. Is there any chance the maroon/yellow parrot can be changed to something like maroon/gold or even yellow/maroon? There's no rule that says it must happen, but I'm sure Kilyko would appreciate a unique combination. I know this doesn't apply for monkeys and octupi for obvious reasons, but it allows us to see different colour combos, which is always nice. Piplicus, hiding the nit-comb. ----------------------------------------

I have a love-hate relationship with TD, but it's the one I probably have the best chance at, really, so I'm all keen on it, cuz, well, MONKEY. OOK! ---------------------------------------- Neyr@Sage&Malachite (formerly Nereida@Midnight). |

Why are swordfight and drinking free, but TD not? Is it because you expect winners to have a subscriber mug or subscriber sword? (No short sword, no goblets, etc.) ---------------------------------------- "We're trying to find the error bars on that number"

Then it'd be a contest of who has the better computer. Turbo is not ready for this kind of thing, nor are everybody's connections/computers. ----------------------------------------

My Pentium III keeps up with turbo just fine. I am not sure but does YPP even run on anything slower than a Pentium III. The thing is holes is a bit more about luck then skill. |

I'd like to thanks to the OM's fer finally making a familiar TD tourney, we've been waiting fer one fer very long, and i'm sure alot o' mates are happy at the opportunity to win a familiar from they're treasure droppin' skills. on the same note, i'd like to point the OM's to the fact that TD with holes and regular TD are very different games, and must players have a distinct preference fer one or the other. i'm sure must o' the regular TD players (meself included) would also like an opportunity to compete in a regular familiar TD tourney. these players didn't exactly get what they were looking fer so long in this tourney. (almost 8 months since TD came out and this is the first familiar tourney) please take into consideration this population, we're still waiting fer our chance, and we would be very grateful if a non-holes TD tourney will be held soon. ---------------------------------------- Edward, Trader & Senior Officer of "Pirates of the Damned" Under the flag "Crimson Tide", Midnight ocean. Try playing on a Mac some time - admittedly my computer is a few years old now (iMac G4), but I just can't play (normal) TD at all. I've tried, and the lag builds up so much that the text saying "you have lost" and the finishing sounds are separated by over a minute! Sigh. But yay for clicking wildly and having no idea what's happening ;). ---------------------------------------- Lethe: The Sea Hares, Day of the Tentacle (Viridian); Far Too Jolly Rogers, Looterati (Midnight)

I'd like to agree strongly with Edward. I'm very happy that we are finally getting a TD familiar out there. But in general the pattern has been to make familiars be the pinnacle of skill in a discipline. This is akin to having the first drinking familiar be skulls to 1000. There's still skill involved, but 2 out of 3 standard TD would reward the best TD player, not he who had the best run of luck. I can easily see one player feeding a hole three times for 1 point each, while his opponent feeds it once for a 64/49 combo to win a monkey. On the plus side, Edward deserves a familiar much more than me, but with holes I have a good chance of beating him with dumb luck. :-D EDIT: at least "last round halved" would reward skill a bit more. not that it helps for me to post now or anything ;) ---------------------------------------- -Darvid
