[parody] Game Design Poster Reply to this Post

To the tune of The Beatles' Paperback Writer:

Game Design Poster
Dear Dev or OM will you read my post
It took a while to write, six minutes at the most
Based on some other games I like to play
And I thought some thoughts!
So I want to be a Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster

They're some cool ideas to improve your game
And if you don't like them, well, then you're to blame
The rest of you can make them super-cool
I know they're incomplete
And I want to be a Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster

So give me special ships, give my guy a gun
And make it full 3-D, so it will be more fun
Give me rocket-jumps and lots of deathmatch rules
Sorry, wait, that's Quake
But I want to be a Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster

If you really like it, you can hire me now
I can OM for you if mom will allow
If you criticize it, then it's yours to fix
But my work is done
And I want to be a Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster
Game Design Poster

Great lyrics indeed. Hom doesn't need to look far to find a voice to match, methinks!

Excellent song, but two points:

* The words are all spelled correctly. When it's sung that won't matter, but it just ruins the effect when reading.

* In the background of the original, they sing the words "Frere Jacque". You should pick something similar for this, especially if it's gonna be sung on the Raid-io. (And no, I'm not volunteering!)

1) I considered posting it as it might actually appear in a post. The question came down to being legible and truer to the original, or garbled and truer to the source of inspiration -- I chose legibility. Also, not all posters of this type of suggestion actually garble their post.

2) I also thought about this; aside from having no great ideas for the replacement, I wasn't sure how to convey it. I guess people who know the song would know where it goes.

One of my absolute favorite Beatles songs ever.

And a darn fine parody. Thanks, Hom!

It's another forum that gets my goat...

The Continuing Story of Parleying Phil

Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?

We went out island-hunting with his ugly cant and gun
And with a rage to vent he called the others scum,
He's the unintelligent empty-headed klaxon-kissered one.

All the children sing:
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?

Deep in the Parley where the old hate never dies,
Phil and the tartypants were taken by surprise,
One of their allied flags had called the others spies.

All the children sing:
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?

The children asked him if to tart was not a sin,
"Not when they started first," another butted in,
"And don't you know to get the last word is to win?"

All the children sing:
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
Hey Parleying Phil, you're tarting on still, Parleying Phil?
(to fade)
