I found this for you.

Now the Azul support refers to the OpenJDK which has unproven compatibility with the Puzzle Pirates client. Your ability to run it will depend on a solid version of Java for your OS X version and hardware.

Does Apple bundle Oracle Java with OS X? Do you have any JVM or JDK or JRE on your system now? Have you tried to just download and run Puzzle Pirates to see what happens? Let us know!
