Expanding the Inventory!

Back in December 2006 Apollo first ran this doodle and while a lot of the entries have been lost to time, it is amusing to see the remaining pictures and the text describing what was entered.

From the immortal Apollo (with a few minor edits!) your task is as follows:

 
It's so difficult to pick out holiday gifts for everyone in the game - there should be more choice! Today, I'd like you to design the image for a new in-game item. It can be anything you like - clothing, weapon, mug, animal, potion, trinket, furniture, familiar, map, ticket, or indeed something completely new.

It must be presented as an item in the in-game inventory display. You are welcome (encouraged, indeed) to borrow the gold box and grey background from the game art, and create your object on top of it. The in-game inventory item boxes are about 44 by 47 pixels if you're creating them from scratch. If you fancy adding a category and description, as it appears in game you may! If you can't, just type the category and description under your art in your entry

So, please note that you're not providing a large picture of the new item in use in the game - you're providing the small picture that appears in the Booty section. Please try to keep your image to in-game size, rather than expanding it!.


  • One entry per player please!
  • Include your pirate name and ocean at the top of your post, followed by your item image, and the item label (if it isn't already in the image)
  • Host your image(s) on Imgur
  • Contest will finish at game time
  • You may edit your post up until the deadline of Dec 3rd at 11.00 am

    Originally meant to be a kind of "headwear" more than a hat, so that you can put a chroma on it, but painted it yellowish to match the gold box theme.
    But imagining this as a booby trap doesn't sound bad either.

    Just admit it lol, at least ONCE the idea of a silly looking double eye-patched pirate has crossed your mind.

    I'd love it as a furniture item, too, but I like giving away trinkets with messages(and probably song lyrics!) more than furnishing rooms. And I don't play with sounds on, but it would be nice if we could record simple tunes in them, wouldn't it? :D

    A new familiar, "Mini-Me". Just like it says on the tin: a tiny version of the owner. The Mini-me clothing will be a copy of whatever the pirate is wearing at that time. On the other shoulder, erm, hand; if we really want to get fancy, we could purchase clothing separately for our new shoulder pals!

    Oh, so many wonderful ideas! I really loved the thought that went into these!

    The overall winner had to be Cptnronen for their very topical Mysterious Pillar furniture - they win a custom renamed sloop 'Mysterious Gift'.

    Runners up, winning a giant nutcracker pirate each are Wayfarer for their clothing crate (fashionable swabbies? Oh, yes please!), and Mutro for their makeshift left eye patch (nutcrackers don't have eyepatches, alas!).

    Winners also get a nice ornament trinket celebrating their win and some Shiny Sun Points (3 for the win and 1 for runner up).

    Congrats to the winners, and many thanks to everyone who entered! Such fun!
