Running a stall as a F2P player on Emerald

Is it worth it to buy a stall as a player who isn't planning on buying doubloons via cash? I really like the idea of running my stall and I wanted to do that since I was a kid discovering the game for the first time. If running a stall isn't that bad of an idea then on what kind of island should I buy it? Would an underdeveloped island be better compared to Admiral due to the less competition? I am kinda confused guys.
