You're not off the mark, but the problem isn't with SW exclusively. Player skill levels have reached the point where the best of us are at mercy of the puzzle RNG. Your SW overtime might score better than mine and my CC17 distil might look more impressive than your CC16, but it doesn't mean your SW is better nor my distil. Or blacksmith masterpieces with X number of combo strokes, carpentry RNG, so on. They could (and probably should) rotate puzzles more evenly, but frustrations for top prizes would always be there. ---------------------------------------- Ryuken on Emerald. Wouldn't disagree with this. The ongoing arms race between sophisticated bots on the one hand and players finding more and more min-max techniques on the other is making variance a key factor in a wide range of puzzles. I just think Shipwright is the most egregious example for two reasons: firstly the scope for good fortune to give you a huge boost in points is enormous (i.e. good luck occupies all the space between a low excellent and a competition-winning incredible), and secondly the skill floor is very low before the variance becomes relevant. At least with distilling you have to be really good before the luck starts breaking those ties. It's also the most relevant example currently - if we'd had three consecutive super long competitions featuring distilling, that might be the centrepiece of my post :P ---------------------------------------- Geologist - now exclusively |

Request to lower required entrants for familiar tournaments on Cerulean back to 4. 10 is almost impossible to fill. Todays TD tournament died with 9/10 - admittedly I wasn't there as I got home 15 minutes late. (Thanks for tearing up my road without notice today city crew) This obviously isn't the first time, but please make it the last <3 ---------------------------------------- Cptnronen Born And Raised On The Cobalt Ocean Status : Preparing for the end. Even though I support this, I must say that you should be happy that you still get familiar or even any type of tournament/competition. Since the departure of Thalia, the last competition held on Opal was back in 2016. Yes that is right, not even a single 5k automated tournament since then. After sending multiple petitions the only answer I have ever gotten is "the player base on Opal is too small" even though we had 20-30+ online at that time. Ultimately, I guess this led the remaining player base to look elsewhere. Sorry about the little rant, just had to put it out there. ---------------------------------------- Masterdodo on Opal/Emerald Atlantis, what else? |

Tournaments may still show up yes, but doesn't mean that any of them fill. So were basically in your shoes regarding tournaments. ---------------------------------------- Trophy Hunter - Scottys on Meridian. |

While we wait for October's schedule, any possibility of some small recurring Hallowe'en competitions to go with the recurring tournaments? I remember there were some last year that gave away masks and such. <3 ---------------------------------------- Geologist - now exclusively |

Just wanted to make a plug for Christmas bauble comps as we wait for this months schedule! And particularly, to cheekily request that consideration be given to reinstating the New Years Eve bash (a long competition featuring every single puzzle - it used to have tan familiars for first in an individual puzzle too which might encourage more new faces to have a go if they have a specialist puzzle). *crosses fingers* ---------------------------------------- Geologist - now exclusively |

There were two recent posts in this thread last time I checked, one by Geologist and the other by RonensOden, politely bumping the thread to get an update from the OM's about these competitions. Did the OM's silently delete those posts, or am I going crazy? ---------------------------------------- Suspirium on Emerald |

Apparently, made me think I had dreamt posting it. ---------------------------------------- Cptnronen Born And Raised On The Cobalt Ocean Status : Preparing for the end. Avatar created by the amazing Cattrin. |

hmm. I remember seeing these posts too. a shame, because when asking OMs in-game the answer is "go to the forums". Considering this is the response, its a shame they would take down posts like that. |

Monthly colored familiar events are still happening and I'll be posting about February's soon! It does take quite a bit of time to organize these events; it isn't just a matter of pushing a button, so please be patient with us while we work on this. Thank you! Edit: Feb colored familiar events now posted! Enjoy! ---------------------------------------- Sun says, "Selling Hera, one careful owner, slightly foxed, very Zeused, for 800 million billion PoE, 250 indigo ribbons, a chipmunk familiar called Robin and a piece of moss!" ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hera at Feb 4, 2021 1:36:24 PM] |

Hi, I appreciate you doing these tournaments. However, I was wondering if it's normal that Rumble is getting all the love. I thought they usually rotate but the last one was rumble (excluding the december end of year special one). Thanks! |

Its really at the discretion of the OM who sets them up. Puzzles will be random - boxing was what I pulled out of the hat for February. ---------------------------------------- Sun says, "Selling Hera, one careful owner, slightly foxed, very Zeused, for 800 million billion PoE, 250 indigo ribbons, a chipmunk familiar called Robin and a piece of moss!" |
