(Putting this into it's own thread for easy access.) As many of you know, we have a test ocean that is open to subscribers and doublooners only, and its name is Ice. The client requires a separate installation, and can be found here:
For installation problems, please look here: http://www.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=15287 Players have established a vibrant, if small, community and economy on Ice, but the ocean is subject to instability and it may be necessary to perform wipes. We will try to avoid such, but be warned that they may happen. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Prometheus at Mar 29, 2008 7:09:14 PM] |

There's a swathe of new stuff on Ice; drinking has been further revamped. Brawls are now played through the parlor game interface (therefore can be ocean-wide) and Treasure Drop tournies are also good to go. Take a look at the changelog here; http://ice.puzzlepirates.com/docs/changelog.html and give it all a whirl! Thanks. |

There's an update on Ice that we'd lub tested before we push it out (hopefully) tomorrow to the other Oceans. Mostly fixy-fixy stuff, the parlor tables should be easier to use, too. See the changelog for other info. Thanks fer testin'! |

We have a new Ice release coming out this evening. It is critically important that it receive as thorough testing as possible, owing to some major backend changes we've made. We need to make absolutely certain that people on all platforms, running various versions of Java, are all able to successfully use all features of the game once we have an Ice client out with the new framework. Please report any problems using /bug on Ice if the issue arises once you're in, or via /bug from your regular ocean's client mentioning Ice if you're unable to launch at all. Thanks, Liz Technical details: We have begun migrating portions of our codebase to Java 1.5, and are using Retroweaver to avoid breaking compatibility for people still stuck using Java 1.4. |

Ice is currently a bit boochy after this last update; we're hitting a few snags with some of the changes for Opal and translations of everything, and we're working to fix them. The big ones are:

The afore mentioned boochiness is all corrected, so you should all be able to safely switch to German, and play with the ocean preference without breaking things. Note: Opal is not open to the public just yet, so you can't actually connect to it yet. And for anyone who did one of these things before, and your ice client is broken, you should now be able to redownload an install a fresh copy from scratch. Sorry for the inconvenience, mates. |
