The Pirates o Malachite, in an effort te celebrate the Anniversary o Malachite Ocean bein opened te Piracy, is puttin forth a great effort te schedule events all throughout the month o May! The following was written by Luffsalots Lawyer: This space will be updated periodically. Please check back to keep appraised of new developments. Days currently scheduled with events: 1, 13-15, 17, 21, 29-30 Days currently scheduled with tentative events: 28 Days currently without events: 2-12, 16, 18-20, 22-27, 31 Instructions for how to contribute a Maylachite event are at the bottom of this post. Currently scheduled events: Event: Malachite Anniversary Zuyua Mist Solo Sloop Race Type: Solo Sloop Race from Zuyua Mist to Alicorn Island Date & Time: May 01, 2011; 4:30 P.M. Registration, 4:45 Charting, 5:00 P.M. Race Start Location: From Zuyua Mist to Alicorn Island Description: A Solo Sloop Race from Zuyua Mist to Alicorn Island; one person per Sloop only. Bring your own Sloop. The rules are as follows subject to minor changes up to 4:30 P.M.: Register at Zuyua Fort, stating the name of your ship and your intent to enter. One person per ship only. Crewmates accidentally boarding without permission during the race will be tolerated only at the discretion of the Judges. You will be jobbed into the race crew. Participants must stay in the jobbed crew at all times during the race. Charting should begin at 4:45P.M.. Sloops must be set to evade. You will receive one commodity that will be transferred to the hold of your ship; loss of that commodity for any reason will result in disqualification. After you are charted, head back to the Fort; the race will start from there. With the discretion of the Judges, the race will begin promptly at 5:00 P.M., with a scramble from the fort to your ships. Judges will periodically board to ensure you are not receiving help from other players, are still set to evade, have not lost the required commodity, and are otherwise adhering to the rules. Failure to adhere to the rules of the race, or engaging in unsportsmanlike shenanigans will likely cause you to be disqualified by the Judges. Prizes: 1st: Dhow, 2nd: Cutter, 3rd: Sloop Run and Sponsored by: Poopydog of the crew Iron Fist, and Dreams of the crew Crystal Blades, of the flag Effective Immediately Event: Immortal Weekends Duty Navigation Contest Type: Duty Navigation Bake-Off Date & Time: May 13, 2011; Registration at 6:00 P.M., Starting at 6:30 P.M. Location: Registration in the Back Room at Inn Like Flint (Saltstraum Rock Inn), race course from Salstraum Rock to Barracuda Island Description: ... over the ocean, from Arcadia Island to any such Port in the West Gilas as those Commissioners Choose... without losing their Longitude beyond the limits before mentioned and should prove to be... tried and found Practicable and Useful at Sea. Come prove your skills at Navigation in a Bake-Off! After registration, you will be instructed to board a ship where you will be ordered by a Crew Officer to do the Duty Navigation puzzle. The ship will be set to Swabbie Ship Transport; swabbies will be assigned one each to Sails and Bilge, and the Crew Officer will do Carpentry. The Crew Officer will be on board to track your performance, and order the ship to Sail. The course will be from Saltstraum Rock to Barracuda, 7 leagues. This is not a timed event; scoring will be determined by Duty Report scores. The first league will not be scored. The Duty Report from the last 6 leagues will be scored as follows... Incredible: 5 points; Excellent: 4 points; Good: 3 points; Fine: 2 points; Poor: 1 point; Learning or Booched: 0 points. If the ship has been turned about due to a booch, you will be penalized one point, and the ship will immediately be turned about to resume its course. The highest total score wins. In the event of a tie, a tie breaking contest over 3 leagues will be done. Prizes: 1st: Dhow, 2nd: Sloop, 3rd: 20k PoE Run and Sponsored by: Tandecker, and Ratt and Thelaw of the crew Immortal Pirates, and the flag Kazioku Ryoushi Event: Immortal Weekends Type: Simon Says Date & Time: May 14, 2011; Boarding at 6:00 P.M., Starting at 6:30 P.M.; no late additions! Location: The War Frigate Unfriendly Pike, in port at Saltstraum Rock Description: Job with Immortal Pirates for Orders to be followed will be lead with Nightshade says. All other orders, including those from Simon, will be considered false, and following them will be considered insubordination, and grounds for a planking... or a few lashes, if Nightshades feeling frisky! Sails and Rigging will be considered the same station; no distinction will be made. Time to reach your station will start at 10 seconds, and gradually be reduced to allow continued elimination. In order to win, youd best do what Nightshade Says! Prizes: 1st: Unnamed Black Cat, 2nd: Winners choice of a Sword and Bludgeon (not Black or Gold) Run and Sponsored by: Nightshade and Dtslywolf of the crew Immortal Pirates, and the flag Kazioku Ryoushi Event: Immortal Weekends Scavenger Hunt Type: Scavenger Hunt Date & Time: May 15, 2011; 5:00 P.M. Location: Starts at Saltstraum Rock, Nightshades Tailoring Stall; continues with free whisks across Lacerta and Gila Archipelagos Description: Have fun with Immortal Pirates - deducing clues and moving on to the next - up until ye reach the end, with great prizes to be had for the first three winners! Prizes: 1st: War Brig, 2nd: Baghlah, 3rd: Sloop Run and Sponsored by: Nightshade and Dtslywolf of the crew Immortal Pirates, and the flag Kazioku Ryoushi Event: Fill In 3 League Points of Fury Type: Sloop Free-For-All Date & Time: May 17, 2011; 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Location: All league points between Chelydra and Morgan Description: The course between Chelydra and Morgan shall be filled with a gallant flotilla of vessels fighting for PVP supremacy! To join, register your ship and its Captain with Gallo. Captains may not register a new ship, even to start over. Battles and scoring will be tracked according to the battle reports under your Crew Rank. Late entrants may be accepted at Gallos discretion, but the best chance to win will be to arrive at the start time of 3:00 P.M.. For each competing AND non-competing player ship you have won a majority of battles against during the contest, you will be awarded a point. If two player ships have tied in the number of victories against one another during the contest, the ship to win a battle first is awarded the point. The Captain and Ship with the most points wins. Any further questions may be directed to Gallo. Enter for glory rights, and fun combined. See you there, if you dare! Prizes: At least 30k PoE in prizes! Location: Saltstraum Rock Inn's back room (Inn Like Flint) Description: Get your books out! It's time to test what you know about Puzzle Pirates; but mostly, what you know about Malachite! Of course it's not gonna be easy, so prepare for the challenge... Every time you are the first person to get the question right, you get a point added to your score. In the end, the people with the 3 Top scores shall receive their deserved prize. Have any questions about this(or want to help with some questions)? Ask Yumisa! Show your knowledge! Prizes: 1st: Black Box, 7.5k PoE, and a card. 2nd: Black Box, 5k PoE and a card. 3rd: 2.5k PoE and a card. Location: Fugu Island Description: The great hunt for Beatthebrats is an event cade where the goal is to sink Beatthebrat's ship. This is a bring your own sloop and stock event, all ships and captains must be registered prior to the start of the event cade. Beware Beatthebrats will be firing back! and if your ship is sunk you are out. He will have a hand picked crew and he plans on not getting caught. The winner is the last ship to put a shot (or ram) into him which causes him to sink, in the event of more than one ship firing the last shot the one who has put the most shots into beat's ship will win. Also fair warning if you are sunk by anyone else's sloop you are finished, only the ships registered at the start have a chance to win this event. Each captain can register one sloop for the event. Also beware 3rd parties unaffiliated can enter an event cade, they can not win but they may also sink you. Run by: Unca of the crew HEAVEN and EARTH and flag Argosy, and Sponsored by: the flag Argosy Event: Luffsalots Tournament of Crossed Spades! Type: Spades Tournament Date & Time: May 30, 2011; 5:00 P.M. Location: The Xebec Moody Haddock, in port at Saltstraum Rock Description: Lets see which pair of Pirates are the best Spaders on Malachite! You are encouraged to find a partner on your own. If you cannot find one, talk to Luffsalot, and you MAY get assigned a partner at random. All participants will be jobbed aboard the Xebec. One partner from each team will join an unrated, local only Swordfight tournament seeded at random to determine the initial Spades Tournament bracket. Once the Swordfight tournament has finished, teams will be assigned their opponents in a double-elimination Spades Tournament. All competing participants must remain aboard the ship. Tabletalk is HEAVILY discouraged! If Luffsalot has determined that tabletalk has occurred, the option for ejection is up to your opponents. For clarification, tabletalk is: Any information that suggests how your partner should bid Any information that suggests how your partner should play Any information that says anything about the quality or quantity of cards in your hand Technically speaking, merely saying I booched that trick. immediately after the trick was taken is tabletalk, because it implies you had (and, thus, still have) cards available to you which could have won it; that being said, be a good sport and merely remind your opponents to be more careful, unless you genuinely suspect they are trying to cheat. Prizes: 1st: Patrons tables worth 100k PoE and 30 Dubs (choice of paint), 2nd: Spades Tables 3rd: Wrapped Parlor Badges Run and Sponsored by: Luffsalot and Quirly of the crew The Barrel of Monkeys, and the flag Keys and Keystones To Contribute to Maylachite: To contribute a Maylachite event, talk with Luffsalot. Be sure to provide a Clever Event Name, what Type of event it is, the Date and Time you would like (each day is first-come, first-served), the Location the event is to take place at, a thorough but concise Description of the event, the Prizes that will be offered, and at least two Pirates who will be available to Run the event, in case one Pirate cannot make it. Please contribute your own prizes if possible; though there are generous Pirates offering Prize Support for Pirates whose events need them, this generosity should be saved for the best of any events in need, so do not count on it. Once you have a spot on the calendar, submit your event to the OMs following these instructions; you may need to provide the OMs with additional information. Do not count on OM support!
