Possible Image Misinterpretation Reply to this Post

So, just briefly before everything went kablooie, I was checking out the new features. I clicked on our intrepid Captain, and what did I see, but...

Umm... Oh, dear.

Now, I know what was intended, but I'm afraid I initially got quite the wrong impression. (warning, possibly offensive, if you don't take it for purely informative or humor reasons.)

Meh, before I looked at your link, I thought one of those icons was something else entirely. What is that red thing anyway?

It's supposed to be a little "do not disturb" sign, like you'd get at a hotel.

It looks like a little orangy-red Ipod icon, to me. Not seeing the finger of love in it, though.

The one covering the trade button does look a little rude.

Ahh cheers. It's a bit more vague than a big X through the icons.

But wouldn't an X convey that something was wrong? Apparently my little icon was not so iconic as I thought.

The cut on the right part of the loop at the top is hard to see. And a do not disturb sign makes more sense than a padlock as it's not up to your pirate to anable the actions but rather the target of the actions.

Nemo, just for the fun of it (when you have time *s*):

Try making a red X with DND accross it in bold black writing :).

Darned I can't draw or I'd show it to you.

I liked the 'DND' stop sign, except perhaps a bit more prominent.

They're already circles. Just put a red line through it - that's an international symbol, no?

I still think it's a great idea, it's just hard to see clearly. If those are white letters on it, they're acting like 3D shading so the thing looks cylindrical. If the cut were more prominent, I think that would help a lot.

Or just leave them greyed out with no graphic at all, and have "Player is in "Do Not Disturb" mode" in the mouseover tooltip.

It's a simple graphics change but also not of critical importance.

it's not developer time, or even art time, because I presented new graphics which are not phallic and are free to them. heck. I just dropped 'em in my icons directory and they worked with no code changes at all :)

and, yes, Rubby, that was ye. I actually had to click on more people than I expected to find one with /dnd on.
