The best puzzling pirate? Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

I have been thinking about this for a while and i still cannot figure out who is the overall best puzzling pirate ( this is for absolutely every single puzzle including carousing puzzles )

I would like to hear peoples views and opinions on possible candidates for the overall best or even give me your opinions for the best pirate in each puzzle will be glad to hear this.

I know full well this thread is pretty much for ego rights but is just a question which has been bugging me for days

I almost feel like I should explain how sessions work again, as a preemptive measure.

Also I vote Novo, just so i can say i voted novo first. But if not noto i'd say Isildur/TBB had a fairly impressive knowledge base between the two of them.

I don't know whether I should say Nickbush from cobalt, or Rocketboy from Midnight.

I'll agree with Nooblar on this one. I also think Epo's a great puzzler. And just because I'm from Hunter I will toss in Dahlgren's name too.

Nickbush, Epo, Nooblar, Geologist, Teabagbill, Masters, Tzz

Of course, there's Xelliana, Cemikila, Donsmythe and other wonderchildren of blue oceans, but I haven't actually seen them do the amazing things i've seen the aforementioned pirates do.

Tzz, Epo, Isildur, TBB, Dahl, Blar, Cem, Xelli, Donsmythe and myself are a strong top 10.

For individual puzzles, "SPC" are stong contenders for almost all piracy and a few crafting puzzles.

All of these names have gone through my head but ive noticed that most if not all lack at least one or two puzzles usually carousing (drink/TD)

From the names mentioned i think about 3 (that ive seen personally play) fit this criteria
----------------------------------------
ravendeth - cobalt
prevent - midnight
luminacy - malachite
luminacy - viridian
sacred - sage
ruined - hunter

Here are some pirates with the Omnis trophy that can play all the puzzles: Queenpharaoh, Justu, Whalewacker. They all play on Sage ocean.

If you want to know people that have ultimate in most puzzles, then you can just use this and look for the ocean of interest.

I honestly don't believe that ults or #1s per definition mean someone is great. There's several things that are easily tricked (1 v 1 puzzles, duty puzzles) and there are puzzles people just don't like (taking myself as an example, i miss 4 ults, but i think i can hit at least spades and do well above average in it, i just don't play it enough).

As in my opinion, there isn't a best pirate. Everyone has their specialities, roughly being divisable in several categories (some do not fit your description, but still) and adding some names for hunter:

1) Competition great pirates: Dahlgren, Masters, Duchess

2) Trophywhoring overall above-average though not excelling: Barbecul, Me

3) Specific puzzle awesomeness: Amyxlala, Mysza, Yassenn, Fjandr (This category doesn't fit your overall theme)

4) Overall great pirates: Cinquains, Hfsktr, Whitell, Rapportus

5) Unrecognized talents: People that either haven't got the chance to play a puzzle to it's fullest extend or that have the skill but not the motivation. (Can't name them, otherwise they wouldn't fit this category, but they are out there.)

As for each situation i have my preferences, if it's a competition in any puzzle, i'd go with Dahl or Masters, but if i need someone on my ship that can help me out, i much rather have Barbecul.

yea im not referring to trophy wise but admittedly most of the amazing competition winners who are great dont get me wrong they generally lack a couple of skills. me being a carouser myself i havnt really seen many of said people actually excelling in the carousing as well as piracy/crafting

(all u comp winners get drinking and TDing ;) )

Part of my question was where you base on that they lack a couple of skills? because of their standing? I can't imagine you played all of us in every single game multiple times. I think 90% of the people mentioned here can do great in any puzzle, the question is not if they can do it, but whether they want to spend time doing so.
