I was confused. But anyway, do we have an idea how the special colors sort? Royal blue, wine, ice blue, sea green, spring green? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by Alfwyn at Jun 16, 2010 5:57:28 AM] |

The order is persimmon, royal blue, ice blue, spring green, wine, sea green. The fun part is that Yohoho Tools actually lists more colours between the ones we've seen. I posted a thread about it a while back but got literally no responses. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Belthazar451 at Jun 16, 2010 3:10:31 PM] |

Hm, looks like more fun with restructuring/reordering images.
Where do night blue and chocolate come in that order? |

What you refer to as "inventory order" seems to coincide with the internal ordering of the colorizations. Here's an extract from the colordefs.dat file (the parameter, you are interested in is "colorId. Some colors may have different internal names, e.g. "tan" is internally called "brown"):
Hope that helps. Yell if you want the whole thing. Edit: No Spoilers ---------------------------------------- Download ScenePainter ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Fiddler at Nov 28, 2010 6:19:16 PM] |

Thanks. That would make it "persimmon, royal blue, ice blue, spring green, banana, wine, chocolate, sea green, night blue", if I'm not mistaken. Interestingly Image:Colour Starfish.png has night blue and chocolate the other way round. The plan would be to make it "royal blue, wine, chocolate, night blue" then I guess (and reorder them again when any ice blue, spring green, banana or sea green trinkets turn up). |

Well, I don't know about yppedia trinket ordering, so to be sure, I compared textile_p and textile_s. Both palettes are the same. Here's textile_p (sorted) for comparison:

The good news is that chocolate stays where it is. Wine is plucked into the gap left for night blue right now. And night blue will be moved to the end, but it has only 20 charts that use it actively. So basically only the HS trinket charts have to be changed, for other trinkets we can replace the night blue placeholder with wine at any time we update the chart for some reason. I plan to make that change (and add the wine beachcomber trinkets) this Sunday if there's no protesting. |

When I was making/updating those trinket images, I was following order of release rather than inventory order =) ---------------------------------------- Cerulean & Meridian - Icemeister Emerald & Obsidian - incognito! #TeamPurple |

I'm still of the opinion that we should create the charts with spaces for all the known colors, leaving a gap (or better, a giant red X) if there's no existing example, to simplify adding in colors in the future. The single-color trinkets all use a template to display the available options now so it shouldn't be too difficult to skip over the gaps left by non-existent colors. And as for the giant two-color trinket grids I think we could either live with a giant mess of X's indicating non-valid colors, or create a smaller grid that skips over the gaps for only for display on the trinket article. ---------------------------------------- Orsino, Viridian ocean Forum-mute: your best friend

Fiddler's idea makes a lot of sense, and is something I was going to bring up a while ago when I was fiddling with the trinket images. With the script I'm playing with (sample output can be seen here - it takes a bit of time to render, as it's meant to be used locally) you can specify which colour(s) you wish to exclude from the array, and it currently substitutes them with an X. I excluded a bunch of colours to make the preview load a bit quicker. ---------------------------------------- Cerulean & Meridian - Icemeister Emerald & Obsidian - incognito! #TeamPurple |

I take that to mean that we should leave a gap for ice blue, spring green, banana and sea green too. If we do that, we should probably go by colorId, leaving a named gap for known colors and a unnamed gap for undisclosed ones. Otherwise we would need to change all the charts everytime a new color in between is introduced instead of everytime a color becomes newly available for trinkets - might not be such a big gain. But seeing there is still a need for discussion, I will leave the HS trinkets alone for now. The wine beachcomber trinkets can still be put into the gap left for night blue, as currently we have no trinket using both of those colors. This won't change the size of the chart images and therefore doesn't introduce weird looking trinkets for people using old, cached images. It also doesn't introduce any real additional work should we decide to add additional gaps. The temporary "aliasing" of wine and night blue is just something that might bite us in the future, so we should resolve it one way or the other soon. |

That's what I meant, yeah. Create the grids (or strips for single color trinkets) with all the colors in proper inventory sort order and leave a big X for any trinkets that aren't known to exist. For the undisclosed colors (29, 36, and 37) we should just leave an unlabeled blank. ---------------------------------------- Orsino, Viridian ocean Forum-mute: your best friend

This sounds reasonable to me. It creates a bunch of work today, but will make things easier in the long run. ---------------------------------------- Barrister - YPPedia Administrator - Looterati |

Well it would require adjustment to templates - regarding offsets - but in terms of grid generation - I can currently press butan, get grid. ---------------------------------------- Cerulean & Meridian - Icemeister Emerald & Obsidian - incognito! #TeamPurple |

Oh, nice. Together with the following, the set of ice blue trinkets is probably complete then: ![]() Currently the method used to display trinkets on YPPedia doesn't really support ice blue. We are currently in the process to change that, but it will take a bit till they can be displayed. Of course just specifying the template with a color of "ice blue" makes sure it will display correctly once the changes are implemented. |

We're actually only missing the banana spiky coral, if you happen to have that. =) |

I do not know if you still collect pics of missing trinkets in wiki, or if you use another method to produce the color charts - and this image probably is not good enough - but I decided to post and ask about it. I believe it's light green signet ring. ![]() This is not my trinket, so if you indeed still do collect these pics, I can try and ask the pirate holding this to give it to me to take a screenshot when it's in my inventory. ---------------------------------------- ~ Sizzly of Emerald ~ Avatar by Aerecura <3 |
