* How easy was it to learn to play? It seemed random until I played it a couple times, then the instructions made sense. * What is the addiction factor? Do you have to force yourself to play it a few more times in order to give decent feedback, or does it tempt you to keep playing when you have other things to do? (or somewhere in the middle) Hehe. I play this game when YPP is doing reboots... I think I'm all around addicted. Once I got the hang of it, it was very fun to come back to. * Separate from the addiction, is playing the game fun? As stated above, yes :) * Does the analogy work for a crafting puzzle? For the most part. I agree with the common theme running thru the feedback: River-not so much; Conveyor belt-so much * Approximately how long does it take you to play a typical game? Does this time feel too long, too short, or about right? It seemed about 3-4 min. per table, so about 10 min overall. It seems long when I'm waiting for the last piece, filling my bench, and keeping the rats away, but it isn't discouraging-ly long. * Which level or settings did you find to be the most fun? Greenie was just that... green. Too basic to be fun. Like all other puzzles, its more fun if you have all the tricks at yer disposal. * What is your favorite part of the game? The rats kinda freak me out (but are necessary). I jumped outta my chair the first time I lost a piece to a rat... "Nom nom nom" the only freakin sound in the game! Might add background noise, or construction noise when benching/placing pieces to break the silence... a simple *ka-chunk* would suffice. Maybe add squeaking from the first rat when he shows up and ticking from the second... Best part? Hm... Rococo!! * If you played enough to get good at this game, will it provide a challenge for Ult level players? That's a tough one. All other YPP games that get more difficult with increased skill level work well (except bilging... take that last freakin piece out... now that bilge bots are gone, give the rest of us a shot!! =\). I would think that increasing the belt speed and the 'boldness' of the rat would make it more challenging. On the normal setting, I went booch; booch; fine; excellent; incredible x 6. It was too easy for me once I got going. Every table was matched colors and matched rows, which means one of two things: 1) I'm awesome (which I want to believe, but doubt) or 2) It was a little too easy. You might as well give me the #1 trophy now >_< *Suggestions: -For bonus piece slots, make a note when scoring at the end that a bonus was given. -As the skill level of the player increases, the % of knotty pieces could increase while the occurance of more valuable pieces deacreased. -The weight rating of the table is too easy. Even when booching, I never had to worry about it. -Making the thin/ornate pieces worth more (or the fatties worth less) would comphensate for their lack of structural integrity and encourage their use. -I think there needs to be a wider continuum for scoring, but I haven't played enough at different levels to see how wide/narrow it actually is... you may be able to disregard this note =|. -A fun special piece to add might be a "brace" that can be a placeholder. You could use it to skip a piece that you haven't found yet and then replace it later when you find something that fits. No structural value and it must be replaced before you finish the table. Or, it could start to shake after 3 places and then breaks after a fourth piece is played (similar to carp, maybe?). Then the whole column would drop to fill it in. That idea could also be added to legs with thin/ornate pieces at the bottom and mis-matched weight distributions with the rest of the table... but that seems too elaborate. Okay, dissertation over =) Ivanczek, Captain and Sailmaster of the crew Out of Oblivion, Prince of the flag Dark Side of the Moon. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Ivanczek at Nov 19, 2009 7:19:43 AM] |

Every table was matched colors and matched rows, which means one of two things: 1) I'm awesome (which I want to believe, but doubt) or 2) It was a little too easy. You might as well give me the #1 trophy now >_< Heh, well, you are awesome, but probably not #1, in that there's a whole layer of patterns above and beyond the simple color/shape matching you're mentioning. Also - the scoring would be actually dynamic as all the other puzzles are. We made it static for the protoype because we have no database to store up everyone's scores for rankings or anything. The result is such that the base level "Incredible" is at about 2/3rds the maximum possible score, based on the observable scoring stars in Alchemistry. What you would actually get would depend on how good everyone turned out to be at putting together high-scoring patterns. It's true that official feedback has been closed for most of the year, and we do still wait with bated breath for results, but we of the Gilthead team are still working together as friends, and sincerely appreciate the feedback for our own purposes. In other words - Thanks! --Ember-- ---------------------------------------- Furnishing Project - Gilthead Proposal: http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/GCPP:Proposal-Gilthead Thread: http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=97545 Prototype: http://albert.best.vwh.net/gilthead/GiltHead.html |

Right, so, did I mention we're in the same room? Also - can I have my lighter back now? --Made-Of-Fire-- ---------------------------------------- Furnishing Project - Gilthead Proposal: http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/GCPP:Proposal-Gilthead Thread: http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=97545 Prototype: http://albert.best.vwh.net/gilthead/GiltHead.html ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by EmberLeo at Nov 22, 2009 10:59:57 PM] |
