Monkey Dinner Bake-Off! Wed 9/15 1pm, 6pm, 9pm

[size=16]The first great Bake-Off in Midnight, and Monkey is on the menu!

(Ask Ajax for a job)

Schedule:
1pm - Preparation, marinate in a Balsamic Vinaigrette
6pm - Sautee in Olive Oil until cooked through or golden brown! (onions and garlic to taste!)
9pm - Dinner, served with a succulent side of roasted vegetables, balsamic vinaigrette glaze drizzled around the plate and finished with a sprig of rosemary.

Event Details:
- No navigator will be used
- 5 leagues of scores per duty - We'll attempt to turn off brigands, but we'll deal with it if we cannot!
- Ship will be ported before each station switch
- Players will move in the following order: Carp -> Bilge -> Sails -> Carp
- Participants are allowed to leave their stations. Anyone using this to be annoying or who makes a general annoyance of themselves will be planked.
- Participants are responsible for being at the right place at the right time. We will tell you where you need to be. Get there as quickly as you can so we can get going!
- No one may enter more than one alt. Space is limited, and winners will be checked! Suspicious activity should be reported!
- Tiebreakers will be scheduled and will take place as soon as possible. Should no time be agreed upon, it will take place Sunday the 19th at 7am PDT sharp.
- We will begin jobbing about 15 minutes before the hour and stop on the hour (or as close to that as we can manage!)
- If space is limited, it will be on a first come, first seated basis! Seating capacity on a Grand Frigate is 72, which we'll try to fill first and move to a smaller ship if need be.
- Trial Users will not be able to participate, sorry! (Volunteers to run a greenie pillage at the same time would be appreciated so they have somewhere to go!)

PVP will not be tolerated. Prepare to be boarded, booted and your ship thrown to the ends of the seas without any rum or shot.

Station Capacity is as follows: (thanks to Baldwin)

Scoring:
- Incredible: 5 pts
- Excellent: 4 pts
- Good: 3 pts
- Fine: 2 pts
- Poor: 1 pt
- Booched/Learning: We point and laugh! (Just kidding ;)

Scorekeeping:
- We will try to have at least 3 scorekeepers per round, one for each station.
- As a secondary check we will try to have either redundant judges taking down scores (in case of a booch!) and/or a screenshot log of each duty report. (Keep track of your own score so you can check us!)
- Volunteers will be needed to help keep score! Send me a PM or e-mail if interested.

Prizes:
Overall 1st - Monkey: Marinated, sauteed and garnished as you wish (i.e. you choose the color!) - To be given out to the overall best score of the three runs. Tiebreakers will be rescheduled as mentioned above!

Each individual run will have a number of prizes for the top 10 which they may pick from based on their place! Prizes will include Ships, Clothes, Swords and one mystery prize (different for each run!)

I'm also trying to get together a few things to give out at the end of each run to encourage everyone to stay for the whole run. Details to follow if I can come up with something! (Ideas welcome for this!)

Good luck!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tiebreakers will be as follows:

Participants will board a navy vessel (or regular ship, if it should prove necessary) and take stations once the ship sets sail from an island. We'll do 2 leagues on each duty puzzle (each time starting from 0 speed.) If there is still a tie in points we will start a sudden death round, starting with duty puzzles in the order they are mentioned in the details. Starting at 2 leagues on each puzzle followed by 5, the first person to go below the other loses (i.e. PersonA gets Incredible and PersonB gets Excellent... PersonA wins.)

All ties will be resolved so that a clear 1->10 can be made for each run. Only the 1st place in each round has a chance for a familiar. This means that if 1st through 3rd place in the 1 o'clock run were tied, only the 1st place has a chance to win the familiar. If two or three 1st places are tied a tiebreaker round for them will be scheduled, defaulting to Sunday Morning at 7am if no time is agreed upon.

Can I get a little more clarification on the times? Are there 3 throughout the day, and the overall winner wins the familiar, or what? I've got class the following morning so your crazy semi-late PDT times are too late for me. However, I'd love to be there.

There will be three different runs at 1pm, 6pm and 9pm. We'll have prizes for the top scores for each run which will be handed immediately following the run. A familiar will be given out to someone with the topmost overall score and any tiebreakers will be scheduled as necessary!

Do this on my birthday why don't you...oh, wait, could I win this thing solely on the merit that it's my birthday and a monkey would make a great present?

by carp-bilge-sails-carp, does this mean everyone does carp twice, or is it just meant to represent that people starting with a non-carp duty follow the same pattern wrapped over?

No more than one alt, but can the one alt be entered more than one time?

Does 'alt' in this usage refer to a character, as opposed to an alt? The way it currently reads, you can enter your main char and an alt, which I don't think was the idea.

Or maybe you are only allowed to enter with alts, no main characters allowed. But that would be silly.

What exactly happens in the tiebreaker rounds? Can i assume it is just another 5 leagues for each puzzle? What happens if the players in the tie breaker tie again? Will there be a sudden elimination where you have to keep incred's going for some particular puzzle?

Uhh I guess in the tiebreaker all the tied pirates will be head to head. And as there's no mechanism for "tying" when two people are doing the same puzzle at the same time, someone will have to come out in front.

Tiebreaker round will likely be something very similar to the regular bake-off but with 3 leagues instead, perhaps. If it's still a tie we'll just go into sudden death mode (if you drop down a point, you're out.)

If you plan to fill a grand frigate what are you going to do with the pirates that don't get a station? I don't recall how many of each there are, but I do know that there aren't 150 stations.

well you wouldnt want mates standing around taking turns so you have to use the least number of stations when cyphering. 24+24+24=72 with 6 sails leftover.

Yes and no. There are 78 stations of CBS. however, the 6 extra sailors would have nowhere to rotate to, so the limit is 24-24-24, and, thusly, 72.

Re: Monkey Dinner Bake-Off! Wed 9/15 1pm, 6pm, 9pm

Could the tiebreaker round be handled by having all contestants in the tie-breaker on the same puzzle at the same time? That way if they all get Incredible, only the top Incredible scorer would get a point for the league.

I suppose it would still be possible to have a tie after this, but it's much less likely than if all Incredibles were to count as 5 points in the tie-breaker round.

Two things:

1. Barnacle! That's the day I have to go to a friend's husband's funeral :( (for two reasons now!)
2. Um... I'm gonna tell the rest of the Monkey Face Fighters to stay away. (Monkey on the menu? Run!)
