Be Governor of Saiph Island for July - Event on July 6th!
Unfortunately for Quitex, it is time for Sins of the Flesh to announce the next monthly event contest for the position of Governor of Saiph Island. The event will take place on FRIDAY, JULY 6TH.

JULY GOVERNOR: BLOCKADE MINI-TOURNAMENT CHAMPION!

You may be thinking to yourself, "I thought the whole point of the monthly rotating idea was to give pirates who do NOT blockade regularly the chance to control an island?"

Not to worry, this will not be a "normal" blockade. Expect something more like this:



The "blockade" will actually consist of three separate, one-round event blockades. There will be a 1.5 hour break between each round to allow for restocking, moving ships, and to allow Sins of the Flesh to set up the next round.

The settings for the blockades will be as follows:

Round 1: BUMPER SLOOPS!
  • Friday, July 6th, 6pm Pirate Time (PDT)
  • Sinking: Of course!
  • Cannons: INEFFECTIVE
  • Alliances: Ignored
  • Maneuvers: Yes
  • Obstacles: Dense
  • Ship Types: Sloops only

Round 2: TURBULENT TEASE!
  • Friday, July 6th, 8:15pm Pirate Time (PDT)
  • Sinking: Of course!
  • Cannons: effective
  • Alliances: Ignored
  • Maneuvers: Yes
  • Obstacles: Turbulent
  • Ship Types: Sloops, Cutters, Dhows, War Brigs

Round 3: REVENGE OF THE MERCHANTS!
  • Friday, July 6th, 10:30pm Pirate Time (PDT)
  • Sinking: Of course!
  • Cannons: effective
  • Alliances: Ignored
  • Maneuvers: Yes
  • Obstacles: Normal
  • Ship Types: Cutters, Merchant Brigs, Merchant Galleons


How we will determine the winner:
The flag or unattached crew that achieves the highest cumulative score (round 1 points + round 2 points + round 3 points) will be considered the winner. They will then be allowed 24 hours to decide who from their flag/crew will be the governor for the entire MONTH and inform a royal in Sins of the Flesh of their selection. Even though this is a team event of sorts, we will only bestow the title of governor on ONE pirate for the entire month, so choose wisely.

What incentive does a crew/flag have to participate, when only one person gets to be governor?
1. Potential flag fund raiser.
2. Crew/flag gets control of a shipyard for a month, which is ample time to start build a small fleet.
3. A good way to reward an individual who has been an immense asset to a crew/flag.
4. And so on...

The general "rules" about what we expect from the new governor can still be found in this thread.

Thank you for your patience in waiting for this event. My computer decided to literally fry itself a couple of weeks ago, so I have been frantically trying to do this by staying late after work, as well as trying to find other ways to log on line time.

Rebel - We will be working towards making our future events multi-timezone friendly. The August event will be forum-based, so you won't need to worry about being up at odd hours.

Round 2 will be starting on time and I will then do the bumper sloop round after round 3 is over.
