We already had loads of Blue-grey comps for the past 2 weeks. Won't be surprised if they leave it till next month. Btw the comp times have been very bad like 2-5am in the morning for me >_>

I must have missed the blue-grey comps as I was not on much in the last 2 weeks, but all the egg comps we had recently were great! They really brought a lot more people online.
And these fam events are usually at 2-5am for me too... Aussie?

Yup or they usually are around when I'm working as well maybe a future 11pm game time for example. I've also done some testing as well, does idling not work anymore?

Also Gg they decided to make the comp 3am my time geegee

The disappointing thing for me was that this was the first time in months (years?) that a land puzzle comp has been on at a time that suits me in my timezone. So there I was ready to play....
Many of us petitioned the OM at the time, but we all received the same response...that our comments would be passed on to the OM who is responsible for events.

Anything happening in December?
And how about the NYE comps? They used to be a tradition but there were none in 2017 or 2018.

Remember those tan familiar tournaments that happen automatically every 10 days and 5 hours?
Are they still being run? I haven't seen one for a long time, but I could be missing them.
And if not, WHY NOT??? They were good because they eventually rotated into everyone's timezone.
Also, I didn't see any Mask comps for Mardi Gras, or...now that I think about it...any Flower/Choc comps for Valentines Day....were there any??

Bring back comps and tournies!!! (They don't all have to be big prizes).

Tan familiar tournaments are still running and have been so since Grey Havens took over. The times are for those traditionally are not disclosed in advance. We also run extra seasonal tournaments, but again do not disclose the times. It may be that you just haven't been on when they have been running if you haven't seen them.

I will keep an eye out.

If anyone else has seen the tan familiar tournaments, please let me know. I used to keep track of the timing but I have lost it.

Times are completely random for tan familiars tournaments. Knowing one time won't really assist in knowing future times.

Hi, April's competition never appeared on the tourney board (not for the first time, and probably not for the tenth time either) and now based on my /tell interactions lots of us are just sitting online with our petitions unanswered because we don't want to miss the competition in case it gets manually recreated. Could an OM rescue us by providing just a tiny bit of clarity?

EDIT - thanks for response pasted below for any players wondering:

"Ahoy! Regrettably, there was a time zone issue and it was set up incorrectly. It's been moved to Friday at the same time. Sorry about that, mate!"

I have a question for the person in charge with this competitions..
Why is foraging is being omitted from BOTH the "all ship puzzles" and "all land puzzles" competitions? In the past (2018-ish) it was part of the all land puzzles competitions (portraits can prove), however it was excluded at one point early 2019. Shouldn't it be added too to one of the competitions?
It is the only puzzle that could feature in a competition, but is still being omitted from any of them, all the other eligible puzzles are part of either ship or land comps. I have also petitioned about this issue twice, and been told that it'll be checked in the first (nothing happened tho), and that I should just post on the forum in the second, so yea here's the post, what's happening with it?

Updated, hopefully the changes will make things more interesting. Not every month will be different, but we'll see how it goes!

Part of the changes is I want to use themes, not just in the name and prizes, but in the puzzle selections and times. Suggestions welcome. Some months will be clear, others won't. I'll still enjoy giggling at them.

Nice to see some innovation for sure, and thanks for keeping us looped in! 12 hours is a little memey but I think in general the long ones are better than short - gives more players a window to participate and gives the diehards a shiny object to keep them busy :P

As a general point, I think it would be really great to see some automated (unscheduled) competitions so we have something to play around with between the monthly set-pieces? Appreciate these happen seasonally and the easter competitions were great fun, but would be cool to see small recurring events sort of like the daily tournaments for hankies (or dare I say the rotating tan familiar events..?) etc.

As some of you have noticed, we liked this idea. We will be doing some of these but please note that will be random and rare. As they are for tan familiars, they won't be preannounced in line with the two current tan familiar tournaments that run monthly. The number of puzzles for each competition and the length of the competition may also vary depending on ... well ... a whole stack of things! Enjoy!

Just wanted to politely elaborate on this given we had a third consecutive familiar competition featuring shipwrightery today - it's a perfectly pleasant puzzle but within competitions, scoring highly is entirely dependent on extreme variance - what tiles spawn on your board, what pieces spawn in your box, etc. In particular, it's super important to have a very lucky overtime phase. Most of the variables that go into a high-scoring shipwrightery session are outside of the player's control. This has the effect that players wishing to compete for top prize in competitions quite quickly achieve a maxed out score in the other puzzles and then sit on shipwrightery all night rolling dice (extreme example: I played SW for about ten consecutive hours during the July competition - appreciate that's my prerogative, but I was seeing it in my sleep afterwards)

Would welcome input from other players if they think I'm off the mark here, and obviously it has to appear in competitions from time to time, but three in the row felt like a bit of a chore :)
