/emote inconsistencies
And I'm not talking about the want for /ems /em, or /em's. I know that idea exists in about 15 threads. Maybe not even :-P

I'm talking about normally typing something like this:
/crew /em laughs
and getting
Lallaria laughs

/tell Rubby /em laughs
gets me
You told Rubby "/em laughs"
and Rubby
Lallaria tells you, "/em laughs"

IMHO, this should turn out to be something like
In a tell, Lallaria laughs
Privately, Lallaria laughs
(add the 'to Rubby' when needed)

I assume suffixes want to be avoided, otherwise ye can just do
Lallaria laughs privately
or even in the middle:
Lallaria privately laughs

It also affects /shout, /fofficer, /officer

(though I suppose shouting emotes is rather pointless. But it might be useful at weddings and such)

Not really that big of a deal.. It's just a bit inconsistent with /crew and /vessel and /jcrew I believe.

Re: /emote inconsistencies
I can't find the thread elsewhere that discussed this; someone pointed out that there were basically two levels to the chat commands.

/crew (and now /officer, etc.), /speak, /vessel are the scope of the chat, and /emote, /tell, /shout, /think modify them. So /tell doesn't really need to be consistent with /crew, etc. if you look at it that way. /tell is of the second sort, the modifiers.

Re: /emote inconsistencies
Unfortunately, that's now no longer remotely true.

/tell should work like a command, but it's actually a modifier. /royal, /foff, and /fbroad should also all be commands, but they're modifiers as well...

Edit: rather, it's true, but it doesn't make any sense, so you have to just remember it all anyway, rather than the mnemonic being useful in some way.

Re: /emote inconsistencies
It would be nice to have all the different chat options considered to be chat forms, and all the different in-chat commands to work with all of these forms. For example, if I really must, I should be able to shout an emote. It adds to humour value :)
