Jail Break (Discussion Thread) Reply to this Post

Jail Break - Cobalt Ocean
1.) All participants are jobbed into Christian Warriors.
2.)Two Captain's will be chosen and two teams formed, each captain alternating choosing.
3.) One team will hide and the other will seek. The hiding team may hide on any island accesible from the Kirin Island Dock.
4.) The hiding team has 5 minutes to hide, then "GO!" will be announced on Jobber Chat and the seeking team may start seeking the hiding players of the opposite team.
5.) If a seeking player locates a hiding player, he/she has to Trade that person to confirm they've found them (DnD may NOT be turned on) The traded hiding player must the return to the Dungeon (The Jail, where he/she is not eliminated, and may still be rescued!)
6.) Traded players that have relocated themselves to the Jail can be rescued by other hiding players on their team if a teamate risks entering the estate, and sneaking into the Jail, running into that person (Tagging them) The problem is that they run the risk of being caught and Tagged (ran into) by a posted gaurd (Which the seeking team would be wise to post after finding one of the opposing team.
7.) After 20 minutes if all Hiders have not been caught the hiding team wins, and the Seeking team becomes the Hiding team. When both teams have Hid and Seeked, new teams are formed and the gameplay continues.
8.) After each round is up, the team that has won receives 500 PoE per player. (Ex. 6 player seeking team wins: 3,000 PoE is awarded, 500 to each of the players.
9.) Places hiding is not permitted: Dock interface, in houses, and behind Buildings where you can not click on yerself without entering that or another building.
10.) Tips: Wear Greens and Browns to blend in with the environment. Hiding in Buildings (Houses being off limits) can be an easy find, as the seeking team can type /who <insert pirate name here> and find the island your located on, then when relocating themselves to that island type /who to find if you're outside or in a building. If they enter the building you're in, there are few places to hide in most buildings, and you will be discovered quickly. We suggest hiding outside, or if in a building, in a place with good concealmeant.

This event was created in-game in late '06 and played until mid '07 with almost 40 regular followers. I ran a trial run and people didn't want to quit. Everyone seems to enjoy it very much, but I would still love to get some more input before I open it up to the public. It would be a weekly event, Saturdays or Sundays with weeks skipped in-between if plans come up or real-life things arise.

Thanks, Arrsome

This event seems to be like a very successful small-scale event, but I am a bit confused by the whole "jail" concept. So let's see if I understand this properly. To rescue a teammate, one of the hiding pirates must go to a certain estate and sneak into the basement or catacombs (known here as the jail) and walk right up to the jailed pirate? Does this mean that once they enter the estate, they can't be "traded" to be caught? And what about all of the "running into" each other? Who is going to be the judge of it?

Overall, I really like the idea for it's simplicity and fun-factor.

Aye, it's not meant to be a huge event, as you said, but for fun.

If you are caught and sent to jail your teamates hiding can rescue you. Once in the estate, you can not be eliminated by being traded, but must be captured (tagged) to be caught, (by being ran into.) If we made it that you are out in the Estate if traded then someone could sit in the dungeon and simply trade the person as they came down. This way it's possible to evade the gaurd. About who judges if the jailbreaker is tagged: The gaurd judges whether they feel or not they made contact with the person. This become a contrivorsy in the last test game, and I'm glad you brought it up. We are hoping the gaurd is honest about it, as it is not an event to win big, but to have fun, and we hope they wouldn't lie over it.

Thanks! Keep 'em coming :)

Would it be permitted to enter a pirate named Wkdxjhrmaplbk and then scatter alts named Wkxdjhrmaplbk, Wkdxhrmaplbk, Wkdxjhrmapblk, etc. throughout the scene?

Players inside the estate can not be elimintated by being traded, and must be tagged to be eliminated. Who judges whether he/she tagged the person is the person doing the tagging. If a gaurd says he feels he/she tagged you, and you say he missed you, the person doing the tagging, in this case the gaurd overules you.

That any clearer, or still need some work?

That seems to clear things up a bit, aye.

That clearer, but I am concerned about how well the actual tagging and rescuing would work. You might want to do a little test run of this using some of your hearties or crewmates before opening it to the ocean at large.

Also, if teams are being selected out of a large pool of jobbers, its quickly going to be confusing as to who is on which team. Maybe have the people selected for the 2nd team jobbed into a different crew in your flag? That way it would be easier to tell who is on which side.

You could also do colored bandanas to sort people, but that would require money and some people might wear the other color to fool people.

As you said, that doesn't work if people change color bandannas.

The crew chat is to announce end time, etc. Not for the each team to communicate.

About a crew for each team, it arises the problem of having to rejob people into the new crew with each team-switch.

Sounds great but people would have to be trustworthy.

"I got you"
"No you didn't"
"Did"
"Didn't!!!!111"
"Did go to jail"
"I got freed"
"didn't"

and so on

A possible alternative tagging system (just a brainstorm): Designate an uncolonized outpost as the jail. Then define "tagging" a person as joining their chat circle and saying something.
