Distilling video - dracai Reply to this Post

So it seems a lot of people wanted to see me do this... Not sure why. But here are mine. Both are around 5 mb long. The first is a better showing but worse quality. Both stall a bit when a CC goes up. Lastly both are CC^12.

Wow, very nice. Is that how fast you actually play, or is the video sped up somehow?

I also find in interesting how you drag the white pieces to the left rather then just drag black and brown pieces to the right.

Umm Don't think just do.

I guess thats the best way to explane the speed. I just sorta zone out when I distill and it goes that fast. Also I have had tons of practice.

Yeah I've found that it's all about practice. You start to get a natural feel for how you can move pieces to get the result you need.

One thing a lot of people don't seem to realize is that you can click and drag the pieces, which this video shows. And you don't just have to exchange the pieces or move in a single direction (up or down), but can move them in all directions as you drag and encounter other pieces.

Another helpful thing you see Dracai doing is moving other pieces into position first, to set up a way to get a specific piece where you want it to go.

The one thing I don't get in the video is why you wait for the pieces to shift over when you hit the end, rather than right-clicking to make them go sooner. Is there any advantage to waiting for them to move naturally?

It seems when you reach the end of a block you'll sit back and wait for the pieces to shift to the right to reveal more. Maybe it's just the video...

No, its the video. Smaller size that way, which helped me, a poor dial-up user. :)

The site I posted also has the codec for Windows, linux, etc.
Windows: http://www.3ivx.com/download/windows.html
linux: http://www.3ivx.com/download/unix.html
Amiga: http://www.3ivx.com/download/amiga.html
BeOS: http://www.3ivx.com/download/beos.html

Note that only the Windows, Macintosh, and BeOS versions appear to be kept fully up to date.
