Is there a part of the game you think needs fixing? A new feature you want implemented RIGHT NOW? Do you think it would only take "a few lines of code?" Here's your chance to create it yourself and win a prize for doing so! The only catch is that you must use LOLCODE to do it. Well, that's not the only catch. In addition to being in LOLCODE, your fix or feature entry must: * be fifty (50) lines or fewer in length * make proper use of LOLCODE keywords and contributions * be thoroughly yet concisely commented using BTW, so that we know what you're trying to do * provide amusement * contain your pirate name and ocean * be posted in this very thread by 11:59 P.M. Pirate Time, Sunday, June 24, 2007. * adhere to the rules of this forum Some short examples of LOLCODE are available here. Judging will be done by me, and by my lovely assistants Cephalopod and Bungleton. Prizes to be determined later, however I can say that I plan on giving out at least one Eurydice doll. OMG PLZ NOTE: * If you are not familiar with the LOL phenomenon, you can find information here and here and here, among other places. * Due to the time commitment that would be involved, neither I nor my lovely assistants can advise you on how to program or how to use LOLCODE. Part of the event is to figure this out on your own. * Comment lines do NOT count toward your line count limit. * Judging will take approximately one week. * You may collaborate, but only one pirate per entry may receive a prize. * No, it does not actually have to compile or run. * No, your fix or feature will not be added to the YPP codebase. Quick question: If there are a couple different features that one would like added, do we include them in the same post, adhering to the 50 lines for the entire set, or can we post multiple times, one for each? Er... If I interpret this question right, you think that there's some program that writes the lolcode for you? There isn't. It's like writing a computer program, but it's a joke. Here's my terrible submission. I still think it's amusing, but it'd never work if you translate it to a programming language. I took a note from previous entries and just had fun scripting it. Translating the forum post parts to polite English was the best part. :) The function is after the call to that function, but it reads better that way. just because i must say this, i do not get LOLCODE. i am quite good at regular programming, but i must say LOLCODE is hard to understand. one of my teachers spent some time teaching us computer programming and it was fun though, so i was wondering if someone could tell me what is speaking and what is action on the codes, and before you ask i did read the instructions. ---------------------------------------- Aesyn on Viridian |

Its typical chatroom internet speak used as programming operators. The website gives a clear definition of the keywords and how to use them properly. I would suggest re-reading it. ---------------------------------------- When all else fails, go blow something up. I'm a BK hunting trollop, and how!

ROFL, my first adventure into LOLCODE so this program probably won't make sense at all. Basically I'M playing OPT XXIV and I loose a hand to someone and then I murder them. I then win final, and my familiar is someone so I marry them. If this seems random, it's supposed to be. Pirate- Erdd~Ocean-Viridian

Basically, this is *trying* to tell you about Treasure maps. You win them on pillages from brigands, and if you go to the island that the treasure map is made from, you get money. A handy hint, should you be interested: if you want to post your code retaining its nested indents... copy the code in, and then enclose it in code tags (use the button in the format panel if you want). |
