The Hunt for Jonesy Dave ~ an epic pirate poem (do your part!) Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Seeing as I am travelling roughly 6-8 hours a day, I've got quite a bit a car time to kill on my pocket PC.

To be honest, it makes this pirate a little sad not gettin' to join in all the piratey fun...so I decided to keep my head up in the forums with a little circle poetry.

Guidelines
~Have fun!
~No inappropriate material (keep it PG-13...which gives us all quite a bit of leeway)
~To keep the poem moving smoothly, please read the entire piece before adding to it.
~PLEASE copy the entry previous to your post, so we can keep the whole poem in one piece.
~PLEASE let some time go by before posting again (I know we all have lots of ideas, but let's give people a chance to join in and it take in new directions :)..maybe give yourself 4 or 5 posts before entering another line!
~Oh! That reminds me...we're doing this four lines at a time.
~When's it done? Don't worry about that for now. Just have fun!
~Everyone is welcome to help build this poem, even the OMs (I know you have the bug sometimes too :P)
~Beware of "Post-Sniping"! And play nice.
~And finally: NO TARTING! I will start a discussion thread later if neccesary, but please keep this thread strictly to the poem.

Glory be ours!

The Hunt for Jonesy Dave

Cursed seas that tell no tales
Hiss through history with tattered sails;
This be a legend of the dead and brave:
Our grisly and glorius hunt for Dave!

Where be this salt-washed weathered scurvy dog?
No-one knew - for he didn't keep a blog.
When I asked at the inn, "Where be his crew?"
All I got was this useless Map & Brew.

Where to go? We don't know what to do,
We have almost given up searching for a clue,
When the strangest man I had ever seen,
Rushed past us, in a hat of emerald green.

"Avast" he cried, "unhand that Wench"
Surprising old salts on the bench
Although no lass could we espy
Nor evil doers racing by

"Then blind ye be," cried the hatted man,
"For the fairest dame to touch the land
Has been taken captive by a brutal knave!
The lady: the sea -- the theif: Jonesy Dave!"
