Re: Left over trivia contest - email answers - 100k

I feel jipped. I did all that work, got most of the "right" answers.. yet I end up losing.

153 Explain why soap grows into weird shapes in the microwave.

[Action.put.on.geek.glasses] It grows into weird shapes because water trapped inside air bubbles and in the actual soap evaporates when it is heated, the soap becomes pliable and soft when it is heated, so the water vapor can move about, usually in the easiest direction. The soap then solidifies before the escaping bubble of water vapor can escape - the process repeats, and the soap forms weird cool shapes.

5 What animal does leather come from? Cows

I didn't enter once I read this question

This is the question where I stopped reading, as well.

I was going to try and convice Marzie that some of these questions were far too vague, etc, but I didn't think he'd use all of 'em. He wouldn't have listened to me anyway... I'm just the wife :p

Leather actually can come from multiple other animals then just cows. There has been leather from Crocs, Lizards and Stingrays. A more appropriate question would be "What is the most common animal that leather is made from?"

Re: Left over trivia contest - email answers - 100k

Nobody actually said anything other than cow/cattle for their answer to that question, and I would have accepted alternative answers anyway.

Look up to where I was asked if I would accept other answers, I replied yes...

There's 2200 pounds (in a metric) ton, if you use a 2.2lb<->1kg conversion system, like I was always brought up to use.

I wasn't brought up completely by a scratched Pyrex jug, just so you know.

I went to Google and typed "pounds in a ton"
Google wrote:
1 short ton = 2 000 pounds

Re: Left over trivia contest - email answers - 100k

I can't believe I got so many wrong:( but then again, it would have helped if I hadn't missed so many when I was going back through the ones I skipped over answering... oh well, was fun.

I think this is the first thread I've seen that claims there aren't enough 'donkeys' in the game. Maybe you're hanging out with the wrong pirates.
