All tournaments will be set up 30 minutes before the scheduled start-time.

Note: Monday and Friday are free days for Drinking. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday are free days for Swordfighting. For any tournaments that take place outside these days, you will need to either be a Subscriber (on Midnight and Cobalt) or own a Parlour Badge (on Viridian and Sage). Also note that if the day changes in mid-tournament, you will likely lose the ability to continue playing.

Pot: At least 200,000 pieces of eight
Familiar: Grey/Yellow Parrot
Game Details: Standard rules. Everyone uses a horn. Play to board stain. Four colours and shapes. One game per match. Seeded by rating. Cascading arithmetically. Immediate matches.

Cobalt Ocean Drinking Tournament

Virdian Ocean Swordfight Tournament

Familiar: Aqua/Orange Parrot
Game Details: Everyone uses a short sword. Best two of three. Seeded by rating. Cascading arithmetically. Immediate matches.

Cobalt Ocean Familiar Auction
Date: Sunday, November 27
Time: 3 PM, PST
Familiar: An Octopus, in any colour except white or black.

Viridian Ocean Familiar Auction
Date: Monday, November 28
Time: 3 PM, PST
Familiar: A Monkey, in any colour except white.

Auction Details
Thirty minutes before the start of the auction, we will post a notice for a free whisk to Radix Island.

Bidding will start at 100,000 pieces of eight, with minimum raises of 50,000 pieces of eight. We will periodically check to make sure bidding is legitimate. This may cause some pauses in the bidding. While it is best if you have the full amount you are willing to spend, if you do not have all the money on you at the time of the auction, please speak to me before the start of the event.

Bidding will be done via shout. Any illegitimate bids, as well as any shouts that are not bids, will promptly be met with a shun for the duration of the auction.

After the auction closes, the winner must trade the full amount bid to me to receive the familiar. If the amount is excessively high, we will grant the winner a few minutes to gather the funding. If the winner fails to pay, the next-highest bidder will get the familiar.

I'm a little concerned by the ringer-sanctioned auctions on a doubloon server.

With a million PoE costing around $200 (a thousand doubloons at 20 cents each), I can easily see people spending more real-life money than they can afford - I wouldn't be surprised to see the Viridian auction go to $1000 in real money equivalent.

Another potential concern is that all bidders will be made known to the secondary market: every good fighter or drinken will try to win on Viridian, in the hope of winning and contacting the number 2 or number 3 bidder.

That said, my negatives can be seen positively too.

Maybe after the new treasure drop is released and played a bit. This one depends too much on the random opening lever configuration.

I have added a note regarding the tournaments and Free Puzzle Days. Those participating in the Viridian Drinking Tournament may want to take extra care that they have a parlour badge if they hope to remain in the tournament during the later rounds.

At last! A familiar or two for Sage. Silverdawg's Sage shoulder was getting cold. :p

Plus, the only time I have a shot at a familiar the tourney would be at 3am my time. :(

Think you could flipflop the Virid and Cobalt swordfighting tourneys so that I can take a crack at my 3rd Virid familiar on my birthday?

Christ 2am for the Viridian Swordfight for me. Even with the 250k pot the numbers of people in the fight, you'll end up getting like 50 poe each. I guess overall the parlour badges pay for themselves though from the amount of OM tournys they hold

Indeed! I'll be nice though for this one month at least. I'll step aside in the sf tournaments on all other oceans [except sage since my shoulder is cold ;p] unless maybe you all really want me to enter .....then well i might be obliged to dance. I don't wanna be rude now do I?

I'm surprised the tournaments are all using a specific mug/sword instead of bring your own, and that the familiar auctions don't give a choice of familiar, as all past events of these types (on Cobalt and Viridian at least) have had these parameters.
----------------------------------------
Pirate tells you, "my, that's one BIG wad o' chewing gum ye have mounted on yer bonce! oO'"
Sungod officer chats, "I wonder if anyone's sailing the harpsichord"
Pirate tells you, "ZOMG CANDYFLOSS!!! *munches*"

that makes it more fun.
if it was bring your own sword, we'd be seeing the same old swords higher up. and having the same mug levels the playing field for drinkers.
as to auctions having a specific colour... im not sure about that, I think they could've at least restricted it to species and not colour.

The auctions will be for whatever colour the winner chooses, except white or black. I have updated the original post to reflect this.

There is no black monkey and fully black octopi and parrots are reserved for Ringers and OMs.

Well, I suppose its just as well that its a specific familiar with choice of color for the auctions because I won't have enough poe to bid this month and I definitely do not want an octopus.

Oh, btw, SD, might be interested in knowing that someone "stole" yer name on Cobalt, and is using Slverdawg. :)

Having watched a couple of their sf's I wouldn't be surprised if its SD's alt, because Slverdawg went up from what? Master to Ultimate in about an hour? (I can be mistaken I know no clock while playing PP :P)

Should a UKer(or anybody) want to bid on the familiar this month on Cobalt but cannot stay up as late as the auction is, I will be happy to bid in yer proxy. Ye'd have to trust me with yer poe and only give me what yer comfortable paying for the familiar, and ye'd have to tell me what color ye want, but fear not, I do not steal or scam people and would not take either the familiar or the poe and keep for myself. The auction is prime time for me and I do not wish to win an octopus myself, so I am offering my services free of charge just to be able to help someone out and to have fun with the bidding. PM me if yer interested.
