[Contest] Pumpkin Carving Contest

What: Pumpkin Carving Event
When: Entries must be received before midnight(PST) Sunday, October 30th

It's that time of the year again: Time to dust off your finest black and orange outfits, time to adorn the sloop with cobwebs and spiders, and time to put your blades to the task of carving a jack-o-lantern. Create a pirate-themed pumpkin and you could win one of several fantastic prizes.

Prizes:
Renamed Sloop "Glowing Lanternfish"
Renamed Sloop "Roasted Pumpkinseed"
Black/Orange Rapier
31 units black paint
20,000 poe
10,000 poe
1 Kraken's Blood

Demeter agreed to award each of the top 7 winners a bone trinket!

Demeter and Apollo will be awarding OM dolls to their favorite entries!

How to Enter:
Obtain a pumpkin
Find or design a piratey pattern
Carve your pumpkin
Take lit and unlit pictures of your pumpkin
Submit one lit picture and one unlit picture to Ishtart@gmail.com

Entry pictures are limited to a maximum file size of 5MB. Width and height should not exceed 500 pixels. Please include your pirate name in the e-mail.

Judging:
Winners will be chosen by a panel of six judges. Judging will be based upon the creativity and cleverness of design, the quality and detail of carving, and the overall effect of the lit pumpkin.

Details:
The pattern you choose can be as strongly or as loosely associated with puzzle pirates as you wish. A carving of the three rings logo would be just as acceptable as a carving of two unicorns humping. Feel free to use or modify commercial patterns.

No carving those artificial pumpkins. Goopy hands are a contest requirement.

Carving and pattern creation tips can be found here.

Tips for taking pictures of your pumpkins can be found here.

There is no set order for the prize distribution. The first place winner choses his/her prize from the list, then the second place winner choses from the remaining prizes, etc.

Multiple entries are permitted, but there will be only one prize awarded per pirate.

Pirates from all oceans are welcome to enter and eligible to win.

Please PM me with any additional questions you may have, or contact Ishtar in-game.

Re: [Contest] Pumpkin Carving Contest

I am so going pumpkin picking as soon as I get home. Well, after I eat some pumpkin ice cream.

Yay for New England pumpkin patches! Yay for roasting pumpkin seeds! Boo for my total lack of artistic talent!

You. Are. My. Hero.

Heh, and here Polly and I love doing this junk anyway. I do think if I plop the goo on her head I should get some kinda bonus. (I'd be willing to take a picture of that too... and post it in public for all to see) Heh.

As an aside, I love the idea of having to send in two pictures. Cuts down the numbers of people that just do a google search for pirate pumpkin.

/me gets out a sharp knife. Heh.

Will I also get a bonus if you plop goo on my head? If so, I'll sit still.

Aye, that was the primary reason for having two pictures submitted. Though, in some cases, fine carving is better seen on the unlit pumpkin.

And right now, with 0 entries, you stand a pretty darned good chance of winning something if you enter. ;)

Re: [Contest] Pumpkin Carving Contest

Apollo and I are each going to award a doll to our personal favorite entry. Get carving!

(Note that it is very very unlikely that anything unicorn related will be my favorite entry.)

If you plop goo on each other's heads, I may have to give you a couple of handkerchiefs to mop yourselves up.

Re: [Contest] Pumpkin Carving Contest

Argh!! My wife left my beautiful creation out on the counter when she took it out of the fridge to get the milk.....so the edges curled a bit before I could take the pictures. Meh, oh well, guess I gotta carve another tomorrow.

Re: [Contest] Pumpkin Carving Contest

I wish I had a pumpkin to carve. Ah well... maybe I can find myself one this weekend...

Any limits as to the size of said gourd, or is it up to us?

Ugh. Is Midnight PST on the 30th the minute it becomes the thirtieth, or just before the 31st? I never remember that convention. In the future, maybe put 11:59:59PM on whatever day to avoid confusion.
