I'm thinkin you take too much time with your flowery verse and not enough with your fighting ways. Any pirate who has the inclination to lay down the words of a bard has too much time indeed. G'luck to ya findin a crew who respects a man with a rhyme on 'is tongue.

will be my revenge!

Shade, thee of fancy graphical signature, dare question my abilities.

My crew will be fierce but also knowledgeable in multiple rhyme styles and classically trained in iambic pentameter. A pirate does not live by plunder alone and the wenches will swoon when my sweet lyrics cross their ears.

Cryptic looked around the room,
Gruff voices rose above the gloom
The tavern's company was few.
"But did Rick's words indeed ring true?"

Most thought not, "How could it be?"
"That, but with lines of poetry "
"Could Cap'n Crunch, a man's mouth, slice?"

And wagered Demo with her dice
That none were brave or strong as she
A fiercesome pirate queen-to-be

Quietly night round the tavern crept
Till with a screetch a housecat lept
With lightening speed from bar to floor
And all heads turned towards the door
Where there a shadow met their sight
It was The Shade who drained the light

Barely of course, cause for concern
Yet for a time one did discern
Worried young cabinmates alarm
Should misplaced words bring them to harm

After a time Cryptic arose
And where he went he didn't disclose
For just as Cap'n Crunch had said
Many's the wench who'll share her bed
With a thinking man who holds her dear
And writes sweet verse but for her ear

Demo's eyes of ocean green
Did pause upon the poetic scene
But narry had she seen before
In tavern or in treasure store
Pirates bardic in their words
Who sought to battle without swords
And many seconds passed her by
Til graceful as a butterfly
She unsheathed Darkheart, her cutlass, laid
And with its shining polished blade
And with a swift and practiced stroke
Bring death upon an innocent stoat

The Shade shall destroy
With might of hand and keen wit
All who stand before him

(That's a haiku for all ye un-educated dogs)
------------------------------------

In time of fear
And time of strife
One shall stand
To rule the night

He shall rise
Above the rest
To fell his foes
And cleave their breast

Keen of mind
And quick of wit
He smells strongly
Of ...salt

Ye shall come
To fear his name
For all yer booty
He shall lay claim

So watch yer back
Lest ye be paid
A visit from Death
Know as
The Shade

My threats were bold

End result?
Recruited many a strong soldier

"I'm in" cried one Phat Dewd
"Forget UO, I rather play Bejeweled"

"Me too" shouted a voice from the din
"Cooler to be a pirate, than a lame ole' Sim"

And so my motley crew came together
as skilled with a sword
as we are with ink and a feather

Lady Demo's inkwell ran dry
Downstairs, she then did fly
In search of ink
of the colour pink
But she never did tell anyone why

got bored of standard verse and chose to write a limerick instead.

LOL Cap'n, I thank thee well. But I think we can settle this over some grog at the "The Black Spot Bar & Grill"

For to ShadowCat I'll raise a glass,
Though 'e'll never teach an english class

I would be lying to say I'm not more than a little interested in Disney's plans for "Pirates of the Caribbean".

Sound advice for all green sailors
And what's this misery I find?

Rhymes anew and rhymes afresh,
A new contender in the flesh;
Comes to join the poetry fray,
Writing verse in his own way.

For he be Ava, proud and true,
And he does all the things a pirate should do:
He loots and pillages and rapes and steals,
And brushes his teeth between his meals.

He gathers flowers, knits and sews,
Paints his nails (even his toes),
Says "please", "excuse me", and "thank you",
And skips and dances with his crew.

Perhaps this doesn't sound like a pirate at all,
But more wimp you're just longing to maul;
And maybe he sounds like he ain't got a clue,
BUT MEET ME IN COMBAT AND I'LL RUN YE THROUGH!

Ye've all been trying way too hard
To write a poem pirate fit
Ye rhyme, and time, just like a bard
Alliterate a little bit

Soon you'll try to be more clever
Adding extra stylish modes
Datylic Pentameter
Or maybe crafty language codes

But none of this will get ye far
If all ye do is write
When ye face the skellies, Har!
Ye don't know how to fight!

Yer sailing begins failing
Yer "sword" transforms to "words"
Yer bilging and yer pillaging
Are left to other nerds

And who am I to ask ye why
I cannot rhyme correct
I finish each verse with what i
Think noone will expect

For now, all that I can manage
Is to say "I am a Dastard"
No longer causing damage
Poetry I've mastered!

Because it hides their skilless
