Dark Seas: Early Access Steam FAQ [Sept 14th] Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Ahoy!

We're excited to announce that Dark Seas is headed into Early Access on Steam very soon. Once that happens, you will need to log in through Steam rather than the test client you were using. You can add Dark Seas to your wishlist to be notified of when it's released. Don't worry mates, we'll also post here.

Q: When is this happening?
A: September 14th!

Q: How do you move your pirates onto your Steam account?
A: Below are the steps you'll need to take (once the game moves to Steam) so you can log into your account. Please be sure to read carefully.
  • Create a Steam account (if you don't already have one).
  • Download and install the Steam client.
  • Install the game from Steam. From your steam client, search the store for "Puzzle Pirates: Dark Seas" and then click on the green "Play Game" button.
  • Launch the game from Steam through your steam Library. Click on "Library" at the top of the steam client, select "Puzzle Pirates: Dark Seas" from the games on the left, and then click "Play".
  • Do NOT create a new pirate! This new pirate will be lost as soon as you attach your main account to your Steam account.
  • In the upper left you will see a blue arrow to log in via an existing account. Enter your current account name and password to log in.
  • Once you take the above steps, this account should log in automatically in the future when you launch the game from your Steam library.

Q: What do I do if I run into problems moving my pirates?
A: If you run into any issues during this process, please let us know by emailing support@puzzlepirates.com

Q: How long will you be in Early Access?
A: We don't know yet. It really depends on the feedback we get and changes we want to make.

Q: Who made that amazing trailer you're using?
A: The pirate Scythera is responsible for the trailer. We love it and couldn't release into Early Access without it. If you see her in game, please be sure to give her a high five. Unless you have a hook. Then don't do that.

Q: What can we do to help support the game in these critical stages?
A: I'm glad you asked! As you know, we're an incredibly small team these days. While we will be doing some advertising, word of mouth and positive reviews are extremely appreciated.
  • Continue to post your suggestions in our forums. That really is helpful and your suggestions are being read. In fact, many of the changes you've been seeing are a direct result of discussions we read in the Game Design forum. We're going into Early Access so we can address issues that are going to be pretty important for the game. Because this is Steam exclusive, it will have its own set of challenges. Help us by providing constructive suggestions.
  • Be sure you give our game a positive rating and recommend it to your friends. This is especially important with a game on Steam.
  • Be sure you like/subscribe/follow our Facebook and Twitter posts and channels. Thumbs up and share the trailer video .
  • Share posts or articles you see announcing Dark Seas.
  • Ask anyone who likes games to download the game next weekend and give it a shot. Seriously, with Steam it really does help to get warm bodies in there.
  • Get in the game and play! Harrr!

Q: When are blockades or other features coming to the game?
A: Steam Early Access is similar to a beta phase, except that we have integrated the game fully with Steam. This gives us time to work on other things, like blockades. We believe that blockades will be turned on during the Early Access period. Please be aware that this is subject to change if we run into any issues, but it's the current plan.

Q: Is it possible to multi-client on Steam?
A: This is discussed in this post .

We have an official release date for Early Access on Steam: September 14th.

Please be aware that it's possible we have to push this back if something comes up. But this is our current plan.

I just want to again emphasize a Q&A above:

Full sails ahead!
