This has happened to me twice over the course of two days. It is where a brigand attacks me and it pops me up to nav. But when I try to place my moves nothing happens. I've tried dragging them and still nothing. The first time this happened and kept on jumping in and out of nav to see if it fixed it and eventually it did right before the turn was over and I got grappled. But the second time the whole B-Nav until grapple it was frozen. Anything you can do would be very much appericated Thanks! ---------------------------------------- Zife Senior Officer of Black Death Host of the 11th Black Death Tournament Co-Host of the 10th Black Death Tournament |

I've been hit by that too. I get about 3 reports of it a day, it's fairly high on my list. |

The temporary workaround is to battle nav from a puzzle such as gunnery or bilge. |

This happens to me all the time. The only thing that works is opening another client and relogging (without closing the other one so you don't log off). That's why sometimes on my pillages it says: "Peax has disconnected" "Peax has reconnected" Hope that works as a temporary fix for now... ---------------------------------------- 'Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know. I know you can go into a station and lay the tokens down, but not only does this kill my stats in that puzzle (cause I am more worried about shooting them than doing the duty) it also doesn?t allow you time to lay them after you figure out that the regular board is froze 7 ways to Sunday. It is a everyday occurrence and it killing my stats..Any idea what?s causing it? ---------------------------------------- ~Athens~ Hunter Snuggles, Puggles, Woggles and Snook is still all mine! Liz, is there any chance that something can be worked out about battles in general if the server times you out? I've seen it happen too many times when I'm soloing, or a friend is soloing/out with non-crew that they time out, and the ship is shot to hell/beaten. Any chance on getting an immediate disengage should the person in charge get dc'd and there's no one there who can take their place? It's rather annoying when one is moving commods and soloing, or just out in general. Especially with bots or greenies. I'm sure this topic has been brought up in Game Design, so I'm wary about starting a thread about it. ---------------------------------------- If I weren't such a refined lady, I'd beat the crap out of you. ~ Doris Wodsworth/Washington/Waverley/Wilgus Avatar by Escape |

It's exploitable if a disengage is given automatically. I can see giving an automatic loss, but that might be unfair to people who d/c and come back within 30 seconds. |

Ok, now I know that I have to be out of the crow's nest before my ship engages another vessel, and I have to have fully loaded the main deck. When I do this I don't get the glitch. If I'm not fast enough and I engage as I'm comming down it will definitely glitch. Also sometimes staying in the nest won't cause it to glitch. ---------------------------------------- Mcshay on the Hunter ocean. |

True enough. Everything is exploitable in one way or another. Maybe some sort of hold could be put on the battle if the CO dcs? Give it a 60-90 second hold, and then give a disengage? Something like that. Also, I know it was a "fix" in order to make certain that pieces were sent to the server, but that greying out thing messes up more than works in my experience. I've placed pieces early and had them stay grey, but never dc'd or anything. Lag is one thing, but I've had that happen to me several times in one battle! ---------------------------------------- If I weren't such a refined lady, I'd beat the crap out of you. ~ Doris Wodsworth/Washington/Waverley/Wilgus Avatar by Escape |

During the blockade, it happened quite a lot, the timer would go down to nothing and then stop. The turn would continue as normal, but in order to place new tokens, you would have to exit and re-enter the puzzle which if not caught quick enough costs you a full turn. |

Seems to be a problem which has hit me on several occasions Being a programmer myself I understand how difficult it can be to fix such problems.... learning coding itself is relatively easy... understanding and creating logic into coding is not I am sure that this bug will be fixed with a little thought and a little time Possible solutions? Large crews Making sure there are always at least 2 possible navigators on board - this would ensure that if one encounters disconnection or "freeze".. there will be another to take over It may affect your stats but at least you do not risk loosing a battle or possibly even your ship(s) Small Crews where multiple officers are not possible Probably the most difficult problem to solve here - as mentioned an auto disengage could be exploited - Three Rings are most likely aware of this problem and so therefore will probably not apply this option However.... I would assume that the details for each "Pirate" are kept on a database and the information called upon each time a pirate connects or disconnects This information also calls upon your characters rank within a crew to determine whether you are an officer or not A new "Temporary Officer Rank" can be created using existing program code - only removing the ability to access the ships hold or chart a new course A difficult concept to program but not impossible... a player with the highest navigation rank on board the ship could be automatically assigned this temporary rank when there are no crew offiers on board and allow them to continue where the "True officers" left off - most players are honest, this would provide a better option than the possibility of loosing a battle or even your ship The rank can simply be disabled when the client detects that an officer in the ships crew boards the ship Soloing? It is possible for the program which detects the type of ship and how many people are on board the vessel to be modified - swabbies (NPC's) are obviously programs and player controlled are not If for example there are no player controlled pirates on board the program can be modified to detect this and make a delay of the battle or as suggested an automatic disengage - this solution would be available at times where there is only ONE player controlled pirate aboard the ship ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But as always when one problem is solved, new ones often arise and implementing new coding could cause more problems and conflicts With that aside I am more than confident in the skills and logic of the Three Rings program developers - in time they will solve this problem, of this I am sure Happy Pirating - Arrrhhh ---------------------------------------- The murderous eighth dwarf has come back and claimed Snow White for himself Shiny metal go stabby stabby - Big mess - Cleany Cleany |
