Monthly Familiar Puzzle Competitions announced herein! December No frills, no chills - December is lean and mean as we head into our semi-annual "Oh hell they added another puzzle" ALL-PUZZLE EXTRAVAGANZA to bid 2012 adieu. Date: Friday, December 7th Time: 9:00 AM Puzzle: Rigging Familiar: Red Monkey Date: Saturday, December 15th Time: 2:00 PM Puzzle: Gunning, Patching, Navigation Familiar: Aqua Octopus Date: Tuesday, December 18th Time: 5:30 AM Puzzle: Weaving Familiar: Maroon / Light Green Parrot Date: Monday. December 31st Time: 8:45 PM Puzzle: EVERY. SINGLE. (this is going to be fun setting up!) PUZZLE.* *For the purposes of this competition EVERY. SINGLE. PUZZLE. is comprised of: Sailing, Rigging, Bilge, Carpentry, Patching, Gunning, Navigation, Alchemistry, Blacksmithing, Distilling, Foraging, Shipwrightery, Weaving Familiar: Grey Monkey for 1st Overall. Tan Monkey for 1st in an individual puzzle. November With November comes a chill in the air. It's time to head indoors and test your skills in Crafting puzzles! Date: Friday, October 12th Time: 5:30 PM Puzzle: Alchemistry Familiar: Copper Monkey Date: Wednesday, October 17th Time: 11:30 AM Puzzle: Bilge Familiar: Aqua Octopus Date: Thursday, October 25th Time: 3:15 AM Puzzle: Foraging Familiar: Grey / Orange Parrot Date: Tuesday, October 30th Time: 3:00 PM Puzzle: Navigation Familiar: Grey Octopus --- September Dollemma I've crafted a great number of puzzle competitions now. To get everything just right I've thrown darts, I've cut decks of cards, scried through chicken bones... I've even let you all decide. This month I'm taking a break. This month, I'm turning it over to my fellow Ocean Masters. I have asked four Ocean Masters to come up with their dream competition complete with their favourite puzzles and familiar. But that's not all; as patrons of these competitions they are also offering their personally inscribed (and thus one-of-a-kind) OM Doll as prizes. Hold on! OM Dolls are some of the rarest items in the game - we're not going to just hand them away. The 1st place winners of this month's competitions may receive that Ocean Master's doll only by first sacrificing the familiar they won. The familiar prize can be traded in for a personally inscribed OM Doll by submitting a petition titled 'ATTN: Prometheus' within 24 hours of the end of the competition. Please be sure to have the familiar in your inventory at the time. The choice is yours. Good luck! July's competitions will be a test of speed as well as skills with shockingly short durations throughout! Date: Sunday July 8th Time: 3:00 AM Puzzles: Sailing, Bilging, Carpentry Familiar: Persimmon Octopus for 1st Overall Date: Monday July 16th Time: 6:00 PM Puzzles: Gunning, Distilling, Shipwrightery Familiar: Ginger Monkey for 1st Overall Date: Thursday July 26th Time: 8:30 AM Puzzles: Navigation, Blacksmithing, Foraging Familiar: Lime, Navy Blue Parrot for 1st Overall Date: Tuesday July 31st Time: 3:00 PM Puzzles: Rigging, Alchemistry, Weaving Familiar: Rose Octopus for 1st Overall June In June the competitions *dun dun* get real. How real, you ask? Really real. As summer starts heating up I'm raising the stakes!!! This month all 1st place Overall winners will also receive an actual, physical deck of Puzzle Pirates playing cards! To redeem the prize, winners will need to send a petition (subject 'ATTN: Prometheus', please) from the winning pirates with their full name and address (so we know where to send the cards to!). These prizes are non-transferrable and cannot be substituted for another prize. Please submit your claim petition by 11:59 PM June 30th. Late requests will not be able to be honoured. Players are eligible for multiple decks if they win more than one competition during the month. Will there be carousing tournaments at some point? And if so, could swordfighting please get at least one monkey? I've been racking my brain and the last coloured monkey being given out in swordfighting that I remember was back in April of 2007. To be fair, swordfight, rumble, and the like ARE puzzles. Nonetheless, and despite the hint in the thread title (see: the original Monthly Familiar Puzzle Competitions thread) it would be nice to have OOO clarification. Personally, I felt that 6 tournaments per carousing puzzle last year was unbalanced, just as carpentry being featured in (close to 10?) of the puzzle competitions wasn't fair when compared to how other puzzles only showed up in 2 or 3. I just waited 5 minutes and tried again. Worked well.
