Familiar Multi-Puzzle Madness 18th Feb to 4th March Results Now in Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Were you the super puzzler of Sage. Were you the hottest on Hunter. Well now is the time to find out who is the jewel of Emerald. Prove yourself the best overall puzzler and win a green octopus.

At 9:30 on each Saturday and Sunday of the first two weekends I will set up a tournament to start at 10:00. There will probably be an ocean broadcast of the event but no guarantees. The further you progress in the tournament the more points you get. Then on the Sat 3rd March your crafting and piracy puzzling will be tested in a single mad 100 minutes of and every puzzle competition. Points will be awarded for the top 20 pirates in each puzzle and scores will be added to those scored in the tournaments to determine the overall winner.

Due to Real life issues I will not be around for the final weekend, I will have hearties take screenies and publish the results on my return on Monday 5th.

Schedule

All tournaments will be double elimination single match.

Rumble Tournament (Green/Green Rope) 10am Sat 18th Feb
Treasure Drop Tournament (turbo, no holes) 10am Sun 19th February
Drinking Tournament (Goblet, 2500, 5) 10am Sat 25th February
SF tournament (Green/Green Falchion) 10am Sun 26th February
All puzzle competition 10am Sat 3rd March

After each event I will post on the results on the post immediately below.

Prizes:

Overall

1st Prize Green Octopus and a green signet ring
2nd Prize 150k and a green signet ring
3rd Prize 100k and a green signet ring
4th Prize 50k and a green signet ring

I will /pay the cash prizes if you can PM me when you are likely to be online that would help. The Octopus and Signet rings will be handed out by Clotho.

Note that

Individual Puzzles (for each tournament and within the competition)

1st Green/Mint Ribbon and Ancient furniture
2nd Green/Mint hankerchief
3rd Green globe table
4th Green globe

Other

The overall winner of the 3rd March competition (using the normal scoring not based on rank) will win a portrait and a piece of ancient furniture
There will be a 50k prize pot put into each of the tournament.

Scoring

Points will be awarded in each tournament as follows:
Winner 20 points
Runner Up 19 points
3rd 18 points
4th 17 points
5th/6th 16 points
7th/8th 14 points
9th to 12th 11 points
13th to 16th 7 points
17th to 24th 2 points

For the competition points will be awarded in each puzzle as follows, overall position does not matter:
1st 20 points
2nd 19 points
3rd 18 ponts and so on to
?
20th 1 point.

Totals across all the puzzles (All tournaments and competition) will determine the winners. In the event of a tie the winner will be the pirate with the most wins (if still a tie most second places and so on).

In the extremely unlikely event that pirates still tie for 2nd, 3rd or 4th place then the poe will be split so if 2 pirates tie for 2nd and 3rd they would each get 125k.

If 2 (or more) pirates tie for first I will set up a special secret tie breaker event at 10am on Sunday 4th March Saturday 10th March. If ALL pirates in the tie are unable to attend at this time then I will arrange a mutually convenient time, if only one pirate is able to make it then they will win by default.

Edit 25th Feb:
Clarification and minor changes due to real life issues. Changes in blue.

Sorry whatever time I set it will be the middle of the night for some folk. The reasons for the timing were

1. Maximum number of people online (weekend have more people than weekdays and the timing is when the 2 largest groups the Europeans and Americans are awake.

2. Time convenient to me (I'm based in the UK and am out during the day on Sundays and sometimes Saturdays)

3. Outside the blockade window, this only applies to the final weekend

The OM run competitions tend to be scattered around the time zones so everyone has a chance guess an Australian needs to get into running events.

The tournaments will be seeded randomly this avoids giving a disadvantage to alts and the double elimination takes most of the pain out of getting an unlucky draw.

Yes, obviously you get 0 points for an event if you don't turn up and I can't imaging anyone winning who doesn't turn up for the last day competition, but even if you can't make any of the tournies you can still win on the final day, you will just be at a disadvantage and have some catching up to do.

Do we have to do all of our puzzling on one pirate or can we use different pirates for each tournament/competition?

The same pirate has to be used throughout.

No the OMs will set up a competition for me, and it will work the same way as their normal competitions. The competition results page lists the top 20 in each puzzle so I will award the points based on that.

Due to real life I will not be around next weekend however this will have minimal effect on this event. I will get hearties to screenie the results and I will then announce the winners on my return on Monday.

This does mean that if a tie breaker event is required this will need to be delayed but it is very unlikely that this will be the case.

I have edited the original post (in blue) with the effect of this.
