Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

Thats true. Viridian needs to be more Spontaneous. We can already predict Legacy are going to try get Islands back, and it'll reform the cycle of a flag getting super-mega-multi-dropped.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

I don't think predictability is too big of a problem so long as there's someone out there to shake stuff up. Viridian needs a flag that'll make people go

and be motivated to beat on each other. There has to be firm satisfaction in having beaten the opponent rather than have taken the island or had fun regardless of the outcome. Blockades "just for fun" sound nice, but they have no chest hair on'em. Nothing breeds competitiveness like rivalry.

I see RAF as a culmination of frustration with Legacy's tactics (see above picture) and hopefully translates into some slugfests.

Cairna could also have been that force but, as expected, he priced everyone out of competition.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

So it's obvius that a lot of people would like to see a flag stirring up some ruckus and making the Babylon Systom (sup NF) a bit uncomfortable.

I myself have given this some thought and I'm willing to be a part of this as long as I get some backup. In no way am I willing to spend 100mil and 5 hours a day blockading the major alliances just because "it's less fun if they islandsit". In order to make this happen, I would need some serious help.

Although you may not want it and time restrictions may be almost nothing of help, I would be willing to help move stock/ships or run random stuff for you. (I would likely not give resources).

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

Blockading has been killed for me. It used to be about 'if you had enough inflag staff, you were worthy of governing an island'. Now its more, 'If you're friends with the right people, they'll ensure you can beat up newer flags with a non-strengthy nav team'. A prime example of this was my Kade on Wissa on Sage. Hibernata decides to pull Brisky, Laslo, and many other kade Rockstars so instead of training my own nav team, It ended in 'pulling most of TP'. Should new flags be disadvantaged? or Do I have to make friends with people and newbies can't get an opportunity to shine? I imaging the same is mostly on Viridian.

And how far did that take them, they lost to a team that had less experienced navers. Rockstars can be beaten. I find it sad some flags does go for this method although I'm all for a challenge on the board. Blockading should be about having fun with people you know, not use random rockstars who you never spoken to. I'v done this before, and it's no fun. You end up letting them nav instead of your flaggies who could use the experience.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

Y'all seem to use the term rockstar a bit loosely. No knock on Brisky's naving, but he doesn't fit the term. I can't comment on Laslo.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

It appears like the term "rockstar" falls upon any naver that is able to get an interocean spot. Then they get spots on the basis of them being "rockstars" and it just turns into a vicious cycle of idiots thinking other idiots aren't idiots.

Honestly every naver is a person that can be beat. As long as you sit down with the mindset of beating your opponent no matter what no matter who you'll do okay. It's when you start worrying about who you're up against and are just trying to hang on you're in trouble. Every set of moves can be beaten by another set of moves, you just need to find the right one.

True. Movespy isn't rockstar.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

I wouldn't call Laslo a "rockstar". He basically whines until you give him a spot and if that doesn't work, he invades your ventrilo and works against you, which is why a lot of us have a password to the kade channels. If I can sink him, really, he isn't much to write home about. How he gets interocean spots is beyond me, but I do agree that rockstar is being thrown about fairly loosely.

What bothers me most is that these navvers are being used in place of inflag a lot. The flag gets to the point of blockading by the work of the flag as a whole (generally) and that is all tossed aside for a win. I can understand if you are surprise dropped and don't have the means to pull your inflag team together in time to defend, but using "rockstars" to gain an island is deplorable.

Re: Now what? (TLM discussion)

I like to see a blockade team about 70% in flag with one or two professional navs not just to make the team stronger for that blockade but these guys can always teach your inflags a thing or two to make them more skilled and a better nav in the future. If I was ever short of blockade staff I more or less chose friends that are half decent from other flags rather than get a list full of ego hungry rock stars. Everyone has different opinions on who is a rockstar and who isn’t at the end of the day 90% of these people are over rated.

Re: Now what? (TLM Discussion)

Fanatic peptalk set aside, this is intended to be a thread to create a collateral effort towards what we've all been waiting for, to allow the ocean to work together to put an end to this age of wolves. What we need is the best blockade team that could be assembled along with the best jobbers. We will also need funds, and I'm sure nobody wants to drop 50mil into one single clusterfuck, so we figured a spin-off on what was done for when Nemor lost his octo a while back. Anyone that is willing to contribute will be free to do so, any amount that they feel comfortable with if any. No contribution is too small. Everything from ships to stock to PoE to cadestaff to jobbersupport will be required. In this thread, we will discuss such matters as staff, and other logistical matters. Remember that your donation will not entitle you a spot nor an extra vote, but that we together need to come up with a formula that works for this imminent multidrop. I (Dahlgren) swear on my nuts that every penny gathered by this will be used for blockading Legacy. If any funds are left over by the time Legacy are finished, we could figure out an event in which to give the PoE back to the community.

There will be a list (in this post) that will be edited as we go along. On this list a contributor will be listed along with the size of his donation (lest he prefers to keep that secret). This list will then be posted in the news of the potential islands to remind the ocean of the extraordinary pirates that paved way for this liberation. We will keep the PoE donations on a ship so that the records are visible for anyone that wishes to inspect them, and thus far we've thought about having Anchovia as the deedholder as general consensus seems to suggest her as a person everyone can trust. If anyone has any objections, please voice them as we need to be open to each other to make this work. Well then, I better start the show!

Donations:
Dahlgren - 1 million PoE
Whiterose - Fleet and PoE
Viridian Mafia(flag) - Jobbing Support
Amin - 100k
Seepnah - Fleet and PoE
Whitehaze - 1 million PoE (delivered at the time of the drop)
Tzz - 500k
Lotsofgots - 1+1 million PoE
Luxory 1 million PoE (delivered at the time of the drop)
Schroedinger's Cat - Fleet and PoE (given that they are the ones that uses it)
Shadymermady - Universal support
Forever - PoE at the time of drop
Guantanamo - PoE
Disengaged - PoE
Neptu - Donation
Martobain - Fleet (if needed)
Rumour - 6 figures worth of PoE at the time of the drop
Geologist - 1 million PoE (at the time of drop)
Kyubi - 250k
Yaruto - 400k
