I've been playing for 9 months now... I know most stuff about the game but I learn every day. A long time ago I jobbed for a greeter pillage and got to a page about greeters, apparently I played long enough to be a greeter myself. But I made the choice not to be one. As a greeter you can blackspot somebody and after a few times the person you blackspotted gets a ban. I want to know if something can be done to the ppl that use it for the wrong stuff. For example. I just did a pilly with a guy, we got into a fight, cutter, orange might. Our driver (master bnav) shot over 40 cbs to outmax it and was very lucky in b-nav (and he was proud of it :s). He didn't read the other vessel and by that we were shot 3 times. score was now max - 5... but he didn't tell it to anybody so I typed: "how much is the score? :p" as a stupid joke... I got the answer: "do you want to get planked?". I admit, I didn't had to make that "joke"... but we were 20 min on that board and didn't even grapply. Because of what he said I hopped off, I was offended (and is was the perfect way to take revenge on him for saying that). 1 min later I got a blackspot by the driver. He didn't had a reason. I'm sick of those things. I had to ask an OM to take it away. It's not the first time that it happend in this game. Is there anything I can do so some ppl can't do that again? Kind regards, Yaizi |

All you can really do is just send in the complaint when they misuse a blackspot. I had been playing for five years before someone hit me with one (wrongly, I might add) and a hearty had to tell me what to do to get out of it. If the people who use them are abusing this power the on duty OM will speak to them about it. In this situation, it is probably best to use /complain piratename blackspot abuse. This will allow the chat logs to be captured and the OM to take appropriate action. A petition will not record the chatlogs and thus may not provide the evidence the OM needs. How to avoid this in the future? 1) don't job with that crew/pirate 2) take it up with that crew's captain. It's not just greeters that can blackspot. Anyone with a crew of a certain age and size can give one. This is to prevent people from making one-man alt crews to harass by blackspotting. And yes, there is a mechanism in place to prevent abuse. If a person is using the blackspot inappropriately, complain to the OM. They can revoke the entire crew's ability to use the blackspot. i had this happen to me not long ago i was chillin in the inn and then randomly ye been blackspotted ><. so i did a pentition and a /complaint and got it removed ^^. Just so happen that later that same day i was running a pillage. Well magically we um just happen to attack the same ship the blackspotter was on :O. /me is not a stalker i swear :P. So i maxed the ship and threw a few extra cannon balls in for good messure( if ur not certain shoot em some more :P). All their booty r belongs to me yarrr |

If you are blackspotted and there is no reason for it just /complain and mute whoever did it. Because any one can do it (in a good crew), it can be missused easily, however it is made easier by the fact another crew member cannot missuse blackspot and blackspot you again straight after, they have to wait a certain amount of time. ---------------------------------------- Captain of pirates realms Lady of Inferno Freaks on Hunter |
