Diamondblade's Cobalt and Viridian maps (image inside) Reply to this Post

Updated 2005/04/13. If you have information to share, you may either post it here OR send me a private message.

Large size, no commodity information

Things I still need to know:

* Anything that's incorrect on the existing map.

* Any routes I have missed.

* Which islands have markets, so that I can outline them in blue.

* Any route difficulties- I want to know when red, yellow, cyan, or blue brigands have engaged you on a route.

* Any commodity information, so that I can make a commodity map.

Let me offer what little we have so far:

http://pics.livejournal.com/andrea_lambda/pic/0001rf8h

Also, the archipelago from Tigerleaf southward is called Onyx. We haven't been able to figure out what the "red" archipelago is called yet.

(EDIT: for some reason, I can't seem to actually display the map here. I think it has to do with the way LiveJournal stores pictures without using file extensions... phpBB doesn't like that.)

Thanks for the info- I already had it though :) A mate from Silver Dawn helped me a little. I'm still updating the map, it just takes time and data. I'm checking over your data now :)

Just some observations...

1. You aren't putting in dotted alternate paths this time. I think that makes it clearer.

2. Predicted location of the missing isle: South of sakejima, north of and connecting to olive.

3. I expect to see kirin and harmattan (Manhattan?) connecting to Erh.

4. Odd names for islands :-). What's the naming pattern here?

In Jade:

Large islands: Dragon's Nest, Lima, Sakejima, Terra
Medium islands: Hunter's Point, Olive, Prolix Purlieu, Swampfen
Outposts: Conglin, Corona Reef, Dendrite, Erh, Lonelywood Lagoon, Typhoon, Viridis, Xian Rock
I'll tell you when I make landfall there: Harmattan, Kirin, the other one

Swampfen to Olive is just a straight line, 4 league points between the two. So 5 leagues. Don't have a screenie handy, through.

EDIT: Could you 'connect' the league points from different routes, but still adjecent. Like Dragon - Hunter and Hunter - Olive, and others. :)

EDIT2: LJG, those points were from routes that used to exist, but don't anymore, so they deserved to be there. ;) No such routes over here. =)

If I'm not mistaken, the island designers named their own islands, so there is no pattern.

I can confirm this.

Also Kirin Island to Lonelywood Lagoon is E, NE, E, NE (i.e. a very flat and slightly tilted W shape).

When I post a new version of the map, can you check that I've done it right? I think I've added the route to map your description.

RE: EDIT: Yes, I could. I was focusing on getting the core routes down first. I will of course show people where they can plot shortcuts.

1. Those routes were existing maps that got "deleted." That is, you used to be able to get the maps, but now you would have had to have memorised the league point to be able to use them. They were not dotted but rather set at 50% opacity. No such routes are likely to exist for Cobalt and Viridian, as I recall it being caused by a bug and not by designer error.

2. I miscounted. I've got all 18 for Jade.

3. It's possible, but I find the arch layout more interesting without this happening.

4. You've been correctly answered above.

I suspect ye might be missing a SE league in that. Olive is further south o' Dendrite than yer route indicates.

Nope, my older map was in error iirc. The version on my hard disk has the route exactly as described.

EDIT: I've had conflicting reports on Swampfen being both Large and Medium, and on Lonelywood Lagoon being both Medium and Outpost. Can someone screenshot the island panel for these two? :)

RE-EDIT: It's been updated. Control + Refresh or Control + F5 will fetch the new map.

Harmattan is a medium island (and apparently another one that's bugged).

Cochineal is a medium island. Diastrophe, also in Garnet, is an outpost. The route from Cochineal to Diastrophe is five leagues straight southwest.

EDIT: Kirin is a large island.

Two islands not on your map.
I tried getting another island in the shot to reference where it is. However, i have no idea how these ended up in my known world as i was never there and had never been on any navy ship. Also, the only ship I was ever on did not have the charts to this place and the captain couldn't even see em himself. A bug, I'm sure. But perhaps you can place em anyway.

Looks and sounds very much like the bug that got me two extra islands on my own map fer one log in Zebulan. The gifs ye supplied were enough fer me to add 'em onto me giant map, the new version is now up here.

Nice find, they look fairly consistent wi' the positions o' Carmine and Jubilee. 2 more Garnet islands named :-)

Nay, ye misunderstood, this be how it looks:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/VPeric/map3.jpg

EDIT: The map now shows Swampfen, Olive AND Dendrite, as I've just won the map.

EDIT2: Tawnee, I think I helped partly with the Dendrite booch, but it should be correct now. Dunno 'bout Terra, through.

I think I see the problem, the map that's in the first post (as I write this) has Dendrite and Olive both wrong. Dendrite is due south o' Terra, and Olive is due south o' Sakejima.

A couple new routes:

Hadrian to Oasis (pictured) and Polaris Point to Sapling (exact same route pattern as Hadrian-Oasis, one league SW followed by four leagues SE:

Note that Hadrian is on the same 'latitude' line as Polaris Point.

There is also a route from Polaris to Labyrinth Moors that goes directly East for three leagues.
