Happy Birthday to You, Dr. Seuss! Although the wonderful Dr. Seuss brought us such great works as The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch that Stole Christmas, and Fox in Sox, do you know he never made a pirate book? What a shame! To celebrate this wonderful man on his birthday, I challenge you to create a fictional book page (including text and illustration) depicting something piraty in the style of Dr. Seuss. THE CONTEST! Create a page from a piraty children's book - Dr. Seuss style! Include the title of the book that this page would come from. The page should include both an illustration and text. The illustration should be original work (digital or otherwise) in the style of Dr. Seuss himself. On your page should be at least 4 lines of text, at the most 12. The text should also be written in seussical form using his common poetry style... examples include: "All ready to put up the tents for my circus. I think I will call it the Circus McGurkus." "And NOW comes an act of Enormous Enormance! No former performer's performed this performance!" "And today the Great Yertle, that Marvelous he Is King of the Mud. That is all he can see." Please post your entries in the entry thread. THE RULES! - Your entry should include one page that includes both text and illustration. If it exceeds 600 x 600 pixels, please link to the image. -Please post any questions or comments in this thread... entries should go here . -Your entry should be piraty in some way (game related or otherwise) -Your entry should also include the book title that your page would come from. - You are responsible for hosting your own images (Photobucket, Imageshack, etc.) - Don't forget your pirate name and ocean! (If you have chosen a medium that is not digital, please include a card with your pirate name and ocean in your image.) - Deadline: March 31 2010, 11:59 PM game time! THE PRIZES! Ist place - A renamed sloop: Doctorial Seuss 2nd place - A cat and a hat (an unnamed cat and a red and white striped sleeping hat) 3rd place - The egg that Horton hatches (a randomly selected 2009 Easter egg) Honerable Mentions will receive a trinket from the Star-Bellied Sneetches (a starfish) JUDGING! Judging will be based on overall creativity and how "Seussish" your entry is. Ohhh! My favorite author when I was a child! This should be fun!! Any chance you could put the deadline in the title? Amazing Idea! Alright... results are in! I have to tell all of you how absolutely impressed I was with all of your entries. Seuss isn't an easy thing to capture, and you all did fabulously! 1st place goes to Phoenixfyre of Malachite winning a renamed sloop (it will be something Seussish) 2nd place goes to Jellylegs of Hunter winning a cat and a hat. 3rd place goes to Dexla of Midnight winning non other than the egg that Horton hatches (an egg from the 2009 collection) HM goes to Abagaile of Sage winning a star right off the belly of a Sneetch. Thank you all for participating... again good job. Such an awesome end to (as Dexla says) a rather rotten Monday. I'm so excited -- the entries were so awesome that I was on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what the final results were!
