Random Prize Drawing Tournaments for Real-Life Y!PP Prizes! Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Through the month of November we will be hosting 24 random draw events with real life items as prizes! All you need to do to enter the event is to sign up for a tournament and we will be picking a winner from all of the entrants! (You can also stick around and play in the tournament to try and win some additional prizes!)

Each tournament will be seeded randomly and will include a drawing to give away a real life prize. The 8th pirate from the top down of the first bracket (not including 'bye's) will receive an inscribed ribbon trinket they can exchange for a shiny real life prize.

The exact settings and the prizes for winning the tournament will vary. Just keep your eye out for the tournament with the title, "Random Real Life Prize Giveaway " and enter to win!

The Schedule of drawings will be as follows:
Saturday 31st October

Prizes!
Prizes will be kept a secret until you receive them in the mail! Prizes could be one of the following items:

Other notes:
  • Real-life prize must be claimed by December 10th. After that, you just get to keep the trinket, and forfeit any claim to a real-life prize, so don't delay!
  • Real-life prize may only be claimed by the pirate who was the 8th person down. Their name will be inscribed on the pirate ticket.
  • There is no in-game prize substitution if you do not want the real-life prize. You may want to skip the tournament if you're not interested in the prize!
  • If you're the pirate on the list and receive a pirate ticket, submit a petition with the following information:
    • Your Full name
    • Your Full address
    • Use "Real-life tournament prize" as your petition subject
    • Your name and mailing information will be passed onto the Three Rings Office, who will mail your prize to you as soon as they are able. Please allow 1-2 weeks for your prize to be shipped plus delivery time.
  • We will ship prizes anywhere in the world, so this event is open to all pirates who participate!

Because I find schedules too challenging to read, I decided to rearrage it so it's listed by ocean. I decided to post it here just in case anyone has the same difficulty I have with reading such schedules:

The News post on the Notice Board for this event is very misleading. It states:

"Drawings will be held throughout the month on all oceans..."

After checking the schedule, I was rather disappointed to find out that this is not the case.

Whether you want to believe it or not, or say that it's dead or not, Crimson is STILL an ocean. Yet, once again, it's completely passed over. It's really starting to get annoying that things that are supposed to be happening on ALL oceans don't happen on Crimson. The phrase all oceans doesn't mean "every ocean except Crimson", it means "every ocean".

Now I can understand not having some things on Crimson because the population is much lower than the other oceans. In an event like this, it would give people on Crimson an advantage because there's not nearly as many pirates to compete against and the competition isn't nearly as stiff. But you really ought to stop saying "all oceans" when Crimson is not hosting any of these events.

Not only was Crimson not on the list, but the announcement was posted to the ocean noticeboard. I checked the tabs to see if it was announced under events or competitions or something and there was nothing. so apparently it indeed is not all oceans.

Also of note, though it does not affect me, Opal and Jade were not on the list either. Are thes oceans being excluded or is it just a secret when these special tournaments are being held?

That's true, but it doesn't justify an announcement that an event will be taking place across all oceans when 30% of the oceans do not have the event.

I can understand not having the event. That's not what bothers me as much as the fact that the announcements for this event have outright lied. Not only have they lied, but they've lied on the very oceans that are omitted from the event.

No mate, they haven't lied. They have made a mistake. Mistakes have always happened- and they always will. You can't stop mistakes completely; only resolve the issues they cause.

I am sure that the noticeboard announcements on Opal, Jade and Crimson respectively will be removed soon.

A mistake is a misspelling, getting a date wrong, improper placement of an apostrophe, etc. Using terminology like all and every when a clearly significant proportion of your oceans aren't involved is a lie.

I can think of one good reason why Crimson is not there.. besides any other REAL reasons..
Cause It would NOT give all the crimsonite kids a better chance cause all the OTHER ocean alts would be running over quicka as lightning to rip off the kids.

And
Am I wrong?
I thought the Opal and Jade Events would be announced in their own forums in their own language??
Or perhaps .. they have different events linked to things more suitable at relevant times.??

i dont think it would be okay for OOO to get crimson players addresses as they are below 13 or that was the goal of the ocean anyways

Well, the ocean is intended to be kid safe. Though, a majority of the players are older. There are, however, a decent number of parents who play with their kids on the ocean. The rest of the adults are people like myself who prefer to be on an ocean that forces proper spelling and grammar, and where you don't have to deal with nearly as many people behaving like 13 year olds as compared to being 13 years old.

Realistically, older people are needed to keep the ocean functioning. I doubt that many people under the age of 13 are mature enough, and grasp the concepts well enough, to run shops and head crews.

Crimson was not included because we made a decision not to give away familiars on that ocean (at least, not in any of the traditional ways) - it was a mistake that it was advertised on Crimson, since it was never intended to be a part of the event. An unfortunate miscommunication but certainly was not done on purpose.

I'm unsure what happened to the drawing this morning, I'll have to check with Cronus who's hosting and running the tournaments.

Actually mate, that is still a mistake as I'm sure you will find out soon. Accept it...
