Thusnelda Voice of an angel, and if we believe her She traded a parrot to own the third cleaver! Alpha tester muse: Thusnelda Event host: Crystalclaws Deadline: end of November 7th 2009 Description: The aim of this event is to compose a musical tribute to Thusnelda. Get inspiration from her YPPedia page (here) or from her many forum posts and event entries! Rules: *Your entry must be of your own composition, with the one exception given below on parodies. * Entries can be voice, instrumental or mixed. They can be live recordings or produced in score software. If you do not want to perform your composition, you may provide a link to the score in manuscript form instead. The entry can be anything from a few bars of music up to longer pieces ? but not more than about 3 minutes of music in all. * If you want to provide a musical tribute, but you do not trust your powers of composition, you may instead provide parody lyrics AND a performance of an existing song. If you do this, it is fine to use a background recording, such as a karaoke site, to support your singing. Note that composition and performance will be given higher weighting in the judging than lyrics! * One entry per person. Entry post should include: * Pirate name * Ocean * Link to entry hosted elsewhere (performance link, manuscript link, karaoke link - using either your own web space, or a file upload site like putfile.com, an image upload site like imageshack, or a link from a karaoke site if you've used that. Make sure that the file/image will not needing logging in to access) * Prize preference order (including male or female for the outfit) Prizes: * Black harpsichord * Bronze neckband rare furniture * White/gold outfit: (Female outfit is valkyrie helmet, chainmail, flare pants, boots; male outfit is overlord helmet, chainmail, pants, boots) * Mermaid figurehead (suitable for cutters, merchant brigs and war frigates) * Maroon lily trinket (inscribed) * White/gold ribbon trinket (inscribed) |

Well, I guess I'll start this show Pirate Name: Asheme Ocean: Malachite My Entry - Ode To A Fine Madam Prize Preference: Black Harpsichord Mermaid Figurehead Bronze Neckband Rare Furniture White/Gold Outfit: Male Maroon Lily Trinket White/Gold Ribbon Trinket Short Description: I just kinda made this song up on the fly as I felt it, based in a Scottish major scale, and based on a few simple chords. There really isn't any sheet music since I made this up as I went, I hope that's not a problem. I hoped to use this music to show out Madam's life, and more importantly, show out all her different sides as I saw her through her article, people person, romantic, brash, swashbuckling, brave and compassionate. I hope she has a chance to hear it. Good luck to all who decide to enter. ---------------------------------------- Asheme on the Malachite Ocean ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by JSChromeboy at Oct 26, 2009 6:04:03 AM] |

Pirate Name: Joycey Ocean: Cobalt And here is my entry! :D My main inspiration for my composition was that Thusnelda was never one to not speak up for her opinions. My inspiration was also the words, fierce, menace, playful/humorous and wit. Good question, but I can assure you that mine was not stolen because I played it right here on my own keyboard, plus you can hear easily that mine is not professional... On that note...(I'm funny)...my only guess would be that since there was no specific way to prevent counterfeiting given...then they are going to have a few expert look at each piece and determine if they are original or not...I figure one way or another they have it all in hand. ---------------------------------------- Asheme on the Malachite Ocean |

I personally don't have a clue how theft would be prevented. However, I have a score of mine if needed. And also, does taking inspiration from today's society count as theft? Some would label that as plagarism. I know some of my friends' music sometimes seemingly sound recognizable because it is obvious that they are influenced from the music they listen to. ---------------------------------------- Joycey Cobalt Ocean |

also would using a computer music gen mixed with your own guitar count? such as mixcraft or garage band? |

Guppyzra of the Hunter Ocean Entry- manuscript This entry is inspired by Thusnelda's name. It sounds quite gothic (somewhat lke "thunder") and made me think of all things spooky... I suppose Hallowe'en contributed to this impressions as well though. With regards to prizes, I would like either the lily or the ribbon. If not, I'll take whatever nobody else wants- let everyone else choose first. ---------------------------------------- Guppyzra of the Hunter Ocean Don't forget her... The same suspense is on me too but at least we can all be sure that the judges are working to get the results out. I hope that we don't rush them- I'd rather prefer the results to be carefully considered and well thought out ;) ---------------------------------------- Guppyzra of the Hunter Ocean Don't forget her...
