The examination of how you can simulate tech with magic is continued further in http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Magitek

Bumpage.

From Irregular webcomic (yea, I'm late to discovering this one) come some nasty jokes.

http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/135.html
1 [sound]: {Charity Collector Guy knocking} Knock! Knock!
2 Steve: Yes, mate?
2 Charity Collector Guy: Hi, I'm campaigning for greater community awareness of typewriters.
3 Steve: Crikey! What can I do to help?
4 Charity Collector Guy: Buy a ribbon?

The next one even mentions their blood drive. Sadly, they don't want blood that is type-O.

There are some really good puns here. I won't quote all of them, but I will point out that there's a "Benevolent Bakers Fund" drive later on. Turns out that ... http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/181.html

(I spent almost all of the last two days just reading the fantasy and mythbusters themes. This comic is a goldmine -- several different themes that might as well be several different comics, all made from legos and photoshop.)

Terrible was the one that did NOT show up on the web site.

Apparently, back then, DMM (Author of IW) did a 15th comic every two weeks for a magazine. In one of them, some characters were exploring an abandoned salt mine, and instead of a mine car that ran on wheels, they rode on enchanted dragon claws.

So, the punch line, was that in the 4th panel (why are punch lines in the 4th panel?), one of the characters looks at the GM, and makes the comment,

So, DM: Claw ride?

In the annotation for that previous comic, the punchline was explained. And as much as I got the StarWars joke almost instantly, I did NOT get that dragon-claw mine-cart punchline. Until it was spelled out for me.

THAT was horrible.

IW has a lot of horrible puns. I don't want to copy 10% of the entire thing, but even if you assume that 90% of it is junk, you still have hundreds of great stuff.

Frankly, I came across a real horrible one tonight. An Italian pizza-shop owner was taking a phone order, and telling the delivery boy to make the delivery. The delivery boy refused because there was something important that he had to take care of. And, you can read the details at comic #2001.

You know it's bad when I won't give you the punch line. Oh, and there's a little bit about a ... space trip (I won't use the word that begins with an "O")

So, I was shown this on Youtube earlier this week and I found it to be very...interesting. I know I have an opinion on this woman's very compelling argument but I would like to get the ever diverse opinions of Shore Leave as well because I (oh God, I can't believe I'm about to say this) believe you to be one of the few sources of higher intellect and thought-provoking opinions left in my daily routine.

So here is the first part and here is the second part. I encourage you to watch both fully and give me your ever blunt and honest opinions. ;)

At the very least, she is very entertaining.

I'll make this reply as I listen to it.

I busted out at "divinely ordained right" to freedom of speech. Oh hilarity and freedom of religion! Let's just use parts of the constitution to support our arguments.

. For the love of whatever deity you believe in, give this woman a freaking thesaurus. I'm tired of the word "Jackass" and I'm not even halfway through the first half. Jeez.

Since when are we at war with Islam?

I completely skipped the second part, because taking quotes out of context is a standard pasttime for people like her. They do it every day with the bible, so doing it with the Qur'an should be childsplay for her.

All in all, she has a pretty good subjective argument, but most of her points are easily countered, and she's not as smart as she makes herself out to be. The leaps of logic she uses are on par with the late Glenn Beck. Otherwise just a standard deluded fundamentalist Christian who is trying to screw this country over.
Either way, she seems to have learned a lot from Glenn Beck about how to make completely retarded connections
