Design the Oceans! Deadline 12/12 Open to All

Shape new worlds with your own hands... and hooks.

Skip right to the results!

With new inlets of subscribers, we will need new oceans. The impressive displays of talent you all have displayed have moved us to call on you for island designs. You also get a new toy to play with.

The Scene Editor is the tool we use to put objects together into islands, ships and shoppes. Now that tool is open to you. Helpful Artemis has drawn up a page of Editor Basics and one of Island Design Techniques to help you on your terraforming journey.

The Contest

]Design and name a complete island scene for an island on the following list. Be sure to follow the category and commodity guidelines for the island you've chosen.
]Post your entry in the Jade Archipelago Submissions thread with your pirate name, the island's number, the name you've chosen for the island, and the Overview Map image (see Editor Basics) both empty and with the maximum allowable structures.
]Keep your .XML file handy so we can include your island in the game if you win.
]Enter as many different islands as you like[/list:u:e34026714e]
The Prize
Your island is used in the Ocean, and a plaque placed upon it to let everyone know.

Contest Advice
- ]Read the Editor Basics and Design Tips, and take them to heart.
- ]We want a lot more natural, normal islands than spicy ones.
- ]Don't use every plant. Give your island an ecological niche by favoring certain plants over others.
- ]Islands absolutely must fit their colonization needs.
- ]Look more for inspiration in Emerald or Jet than Ruby or Sapphire.[/list:u:e34026714e]
  
  Medium Colonizable Islands
  We will be introducing a new island size between Outpost and Full Colonizable: Medium Colonizable. A medium colonizable island can have any infrastructure buildings (fort, palace, inn, bank, market, estate agent), but can have only four trade structures. The normal bazaar rules apply.
  So, you could have four bazaars, one bazaar and up to three of its shoppes, two bazaars with a shoppe for each, etc.
  
  The Jade Archipelago in the Cobalt Ocean
  
  Jade is one of the three vast archipelagos that rise from the Cobalt Ocean. Its environment ranges from forested northern isles to sandy dunes and jungles to the south. Everywhere is reasonably warm, with moderate to high rainfall throughout.
  
  Jade island names should have something to do with green, the Orient, or art.

    - ]Full Colonizable
    - ]Dense forest and waving fields

is there a version of this available for full download, rather than the installer download thing. Its gonna take me hours on my dialup and thats just not possible to from here.

Given that the arrrt is the same as the game client, is there any way to make the island scene editor share? That would cut the download a little for people.

So i'm sorta playing with it.. and was wondering.. does one tile = one tile in the game? like the space one character takes up?

No. Tiles are the same as the tiles seen in the governor interface (see Attesmythe's post in Tips and Tricks for info)

Ok, I unsubscribed( which i really regret now :/) from puzzle pirates, but can I still do the contest and get my island put in the ocean(if I won, of course)?

Just because there are no graphics for rain does not main you can't see the results of rainfall. :p

Will these Medium Colonizable islands only be introduced in a new Ocean or are they going to be rolled out into this one too?
I think its a great idea for medium sized flags who want more than an outpost but find a full island a bit too daunting.

I apologise in advance if this has already been asked. I did a search but it only brought me back to this thread :)
