As usual. I think duchess should be banned from familiar tournaments to give others a chance :P

If you want proof just look at all her portraits.

And unfortunately, I'm very bad at most of those puzzles except dnav and blacksmithing. We don't have gunning anymore. (Or at least we haven't had one in a while)

Anyways, too bad I only got to get 3 DRs in for the bilge competition before I had to go... I might have had a chance of top 4.

As has been posted gazillion times before, gunning has multiple problems and as such competitions wouldn't work out fairly for it. I presume there'll be competitions to make up for it after the issues are resolved.

Geo,
in favour of a bilging replay and also keen to see the August schedule.

Gunning gunning gunning, I really don't care much about the familiar, but I'd sure love to see some type of gunning comp so I can see how I stand against other "real" gunners I know. Save the familiars for when the problems are fixed, but give us gunners something to do in the meantime.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was readily accepted that the gunning scoring was not reflective of actual skill, if you've got the inclination to how it is scored in the first place. Consequently, I feel it would be irresponsible of them to create a gunning competition until there is a more fair representation of gunning skill. I mean, how lame would it be for you to join a gunning competition only to get outdone my some shmuck alt on a navy vessel manipulating the scoring system. Whilst I do understand your frustration with the fact that since the inception of this there has not been a gunning competition, I feel that its been responsible of the OM's to not schedule one until it is fixed. Similarly, with SW, they CHANGED it from SW to foraging or something the first month this ran because they became aware that Shipwrightery was a broken scoring system. Just cool your jets, add a little less sarcasm, and be happy that they're doing this sort of thing at all.

I must say, I am very glad to see that for the crafting multi-puzzle competition that tan familiars will be given out for each puzzle's top prize. This seems like the way to go to have the non-parlor puzzles get tan familiars. Even if it isn't as frequent as the parlor puzzles, the gesture is greatly appreciated, not just by me, but I'm sure many appreciate it. Thank you!

I hope that if any of the colored familiar winners also win a tan familiar or two (as seems quite possible) they would give the tan familiar to the runner-up for that puzzle. When I win the Viridian competition, that's what I plan to do. :)

I hope they continue with doing this. It isn't just about "balancing out the carousing/piracy fams". That can be done much more easily by making automated tan fam comps (which is something I really want to see them do). To me, it is more about providing people a reason to compete even if they aren't good at one or more of the puzzles in a multi-puzzle. For example in this one, I am terrible at distilling, and so-so at blacksmithing... without prizes for the other puzzles, there would be no reason for me to compete. I've heard the same thing by crewbies that can't carp in multi-puzzles involving carp, etc. Providing tan fams for 1st in individual puzzles means that anyone good at any of the puzzles at least has a reason to participate and get excited about possibly winning something good.
