This competitons was won by a renowed and another competition a colored octopus was won by a master. On sage some time ago someone won colored familiar with his first incred in forage and distingushied rank... and he wasn't an alt. I play on these oceans, about rest i don't know who won.
It's just "Wow" cause the pirates who are really good at this puzzle and have #1 trophy are owned by ppls what don't have ultimate.. or evan gm.
That's just in my opinion. I don't know what other pirates think about this.

competitions aren't held to reward the best puzzlers in a certain puzzle, since that's usually not what it ends in. everyone gets a shot at winning and therefore it's more fun for the worse players to take part and less fun for the best players to.. im pretty much a good example, i excell in nearly every puzzle, but the one i win a competition in is shipwrighting, probably one of my worst. sometimes luck is rewarded more then skill, and OOO seems fine with it, cuz it has been pointed out a lot, so we'll just have to live with it.

I'd like to hear what kind of "factor" the Gem/Gold Chests have on scoring for Forage Competitions. Seems to me if you "luck" getting one of these on your board, you'd be at an advantage over others.

I also won my monkey with no gem/gold chests. I had a fairly normal run to be honest, a few 2x2s and 1x1s. But I got some good combos and it was a quick forage. Speed helps the scoring in forage I believe

If I recall correctly I had at least one 2x2+1x1, Double 2x2 in my winning session, and probably at least one or two 1x1+1x1, Double 2x2 scores.

Of course, the true value of combos is, to me, based on unknown criteria at best, and at worst is completely arbitrary. For combos like Doubles and Triples, the size of the font of the "Double" or Triple" message is what indicates the score.

Anyway, there should be an indication on the amount of time each competition will last in the OP. It would help for people like me who can't be on at the very beginning of the competition.

I still don't get the Cobalt results.

Dexavis had #1, #1 and #10 for the three categories while Bobber had #5, #27 (carp) and #2 nav.

Doesn't make too much sense in my opinion.

It means either there's a bug ;-) or the spread in scoring in dnav is way bigger than in the other puzzles - and with the big bonuses you get for higher star levels in dnav, it's likely the latter.

For example, if their scores were:

Dexavis: 952, 971, 732
Bobber: 950, 959, 800

The winner would be Bobber, with a higher overall score.

it would be possible that the score betwheen #1 and #5 in rigging was very close and same thing with #1 and #27 carp. but then in dnav the difference of score for #2 and #10 was bigger than the 2 other reunited.

Yes, please. I came on after 45 minutes hoping it was an hour and a half...to find that I barely had time to register a score for each puzzle.
