Cire's Super Bowl Pool 2009 [Win up to 500k] Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

Edit 4: The game is over! Thank you to everyone who participated! Winners are announced here! Please continue to check this thread in the next couple of days, as I will be posting several follow up questions on ways ye think it can be improved for next year!

-----

Edit3: Numbers have been picked! Check the board to see what your numbers are. To print it, highlight the whole thing and choose Print Selection from your browser's print options.

For a more printer friendly version, text only, no images, click here. Thanks Flutie! Good luck everyone!

-----

Edit2: All boxes have been sold. Drawing for the numbers is Wednesday, 1/28 at 8pm game time. Drawings will be at the Midsummer inn. There will be a few local tournaments to entertain everyone.

-----

Did your favorite team fall short? Want a little extra enthusiasm when you sit down to watch the game with friends or family this year? Join this Super Bowl pool and find yourself full of excitement on February 1!

Board
Numbers

Edit1: Just to note: I changed the word "Grid" to "Board" in the above link. It is inaccurate to call it a grid. They are simply numbered 1-100, so the first row is 1-10, then second is 11-20, etc. Apologies for not making this clear originally.

Disclaimer
Artemis wrote:
Please note that this event, as with any lottery, raffle or auction, is run at the risk of the participants. If there is shown to be cheating or wrongdoing, the culprit will be punished, but no poe will be returned to participants affected. Please only enter if you trust the person or people hosting the event.

How It Works
1. Everyone picks a number (or up to 5 numbers) between 1 and 100. Each number corresponds to a square on a 10x10 grid. Each square you pick will cost 5k. This is the money that is used in the prize pool.

2. After all the squares are filled, the vertical and horizontal axis are randomly assigned numbers 0-9. The TD binary system will be used to randomly assign the numbers.

3. After the numbers are assigned we wait and watch the game. Your numbers will correspond to the last digit in the score of each team. If your numbers are the score at the end of a quarter you win! For example, if your numbers are 7 for the NFC team and 1 for the AFC team, and the score after the first quarter is 7-21, you win!

How To Enter
1. Post which box number(s) you would like to reserve in this thread. For a list of available numbers view this wiki page. If you are comfortable editing the wiki feel free to add your name to a number that you want. If not I'll try to get it done ASAP.

2. Find me in game and let me know you want to pay for your boxes. DO NOT /PAY CIRE! I will be collecting all box payments on my alt Superbowl. After you let me know that you wish to pay I will log onto Superbowl and you can pay me there.

3. Once you pay for the box I will mark a P next to your name on the numbers list. Please do not mark a P yourself, as this will likely cause confusion and make me mad at you. I will also add you to the grid at that time.

Prizes
Since each box costs 5k and there are 100 total boxes, there will be 500k total prizes given out. This is the payment schedule:

End of 1st Quarter: 62.5k
End of Half: 125k
End of 3rd Quarter: 62.5k
Final Score*: 250k

*Note that this is the final score of the game, but not necessarily of the 4th quarter. If the game goes into over time the score after the game is completed will be used.

Additional Notes
-I'm going to limit each person to no more than 5 boxes so that we can have many people participate. If the boxes aren't selling I may up this limit.
-All payments will be made to my alt Superbowl. Payments must be received by 1/31. Payments will not be accepted on Super Bowl Sunday. The sooner the better.
-I don't know how many people are going to be interested in this. I will do my best to make sure the grid gets filled. If we only have 50 people I may change every box to be worth 2.5k and give everyone an additional box. This would half the prize payout.
-If any abnormalities occur I will do my best to handle the situation fairly and swiftly.
-As the disclaimer says, if you do not trust me please do not enter this event.

-Please post any questions, comments, or concerns you have here

/me giggles. I think its nuts that I have seen these so many times. We have $2 pools for both LSU and the Saints during the season. Currently have a $50 pool that will be split in different ways. The guys here love them. I've entered in a few of them, and always lose. Oh well. However I may give this a try.

Okay, having finally looked at the board, I love how you put peoples avatars into their chosen squares. It's lovely. But it's not very printable. Any chance you will be putting up a text-only version too, once you do the drawing and put the numbers in?

I was actually meaning to test printabilty soon. I'm thinking if you highlight it and in your print options choose "Print selection" it will print it out nicely. I think I'll also post it as one image file after the boxes are all sold. I can put up a text version too, maybe even put it in a google doc to make sure it stays pretty.

I'll make sure there are plenty of printing options. :D

Just to update, there are 17 open boxes left. However, only 9 more need to be sold. Sprng and I are planning on picking up the ones no one else takes (she can take a full 5, I can take 3 more).

After they are all sold and paid for I'll announce when the numbers are going to be set.
