Thank Fuzzy It's Friday

Although Apollo has mentioned that he and the other OMs weren’t specifically looking for praise, I still wanted to use this opportunity to acknowledge my gratitude to Glaucus for holding his Poetryck and Treat contest.

I used to write poetry all the time when I was younger and often times, used it as a form of expression, whether I was feeling depressed, angry, or excited about something. But during a period where I lost two close relatives and had another close family member diagnosed with cancer, I simply stopped writing. Looking back now, I can only best described it as a “numb” period in my life. As time went by and I didn’t write, it felt like it became too hard to start again. Oftentimes, I would try, but self-doubt would prevent me from writing beyond the first line.

When Glaucus’ contest came up though, there wasn’t much hesitation on my part to try for it. Unlike other poetry contests where the deadline were always weeks away and gave enough time for hesitation to creep in, the one hour entry deadline didn’t allow that hesitation to develop and I just went for it. I have to say that although my entry was short, it was one of the hardest poems I had to write. That first poem though, helped give me the courage to write another one for his second contest… and then another one, and another one…

So thank you Glaucus, for indirectly and unknowingly helping this pirate write poetry again. I'm feeling a little embarrassed writing this, but life's too short to forget to say thank you for those who've helped you out. ^^

Sincerely,
A pirate through with her eight-year writing drought

Contest: Parodies Lost

Entry: (to the tune of Do Yer Ears Hang Low)

Is yer sword a foil?
Can ye cut through foes like oil?
Can ye build a big attack
That makes yer enemies recoil?
Is there no desire ye feel
To upgrade yer piece o' steel?
Is yer sword a foil?

Is yer sword a scimitar?
Curvin' out e'er so far?
Can ye slice? Can ye dice?
As ye dive behind a bar?
Do ye like swingin' it around
And knockin' en'mies to the ground?
Is yer sword a scimitar?

Is yer sword a cleaver?
Mixin' up the poor receiver?
Choppin' off fingers and toes
In a mad an' screamin' fever?
Ye a butch'rin' scallywag
Who nobody'd dare to nag?
Is yer sword a cleaver?

Is yer sword a saber?
Careful not to hurt yer neighbor
As yer wavin' it about
(No injuries without some labor)
Sprinkles soon to end the fight
'Long as breakers are not right
Is yer sword a saber?

Is yer sword a dirk?
Do people think ye are berserk?
Did ye buy it 'cause it's pretty
Or do ye really make it work?
Is yer buildin' quite a sight
Or are ye losin' e'ery fight?
Is yer sword a dirk?

Is yer sword a poniard?
Ye like catchin' foes off guard?
Sendin' multiple attacks
In an ever-fierce bombard?
Do ye like the stylish look
O' a fancy hilt an' hook?
Is yer sword a poniard?

Is yer sword quite long?
So ye never stick the wrong
End into yer enemy?
Just put it where it does belong
Do ye make yer strikes all large
As into the game ye barge?
Is yer sword quite long?

Is yer sword a cutlass?
Are ye anythin' but gutless?
Do ye turn a weaklin' sword
Into a winnin,' slashin' plus?
Sendin' strikes, avoid the sprinkle
As the breakers all do tinkle
Is yer sword a cutlass?

Is yer sword a rapier?
Ye like makin' the bots angrier?
Always avoidin' PvP's
So that players aren't a barrier?
Many colors you can send
If you but know where to begin
Is yer sword a rapier?

Is yer sword a stiletto?
Thin and shiny bit o' metal?
Just a sliver of a threat
As all arguments you settle?
Teamin' up, sendin' blocks
Puttin' en'mies in a box
Is yer sword a stiletto?

Is yer sword maybe short?
Do you send a sharp retort?
Do ye like to be well-rounded
When ye hear the game alert?
Ye send a mix o' strikes an' bits
Until yer foe is havin' fits
Is yer sword maybe short?

Is yer sword a dagger?
Can ye walk that special swagger?
Are yer sprinkles like a rain
To make all yer opponents stagger?
Is the Jolly Roger yer
Favorite symbol, to be sure?
Is yer sword a dagger?

Is yer sword a falchion?
Are those strikes that ye be matchin'?
Ye like sendin' great big swords
As an evil plan yer hatchin'?
Does it help ye out, ye know
Or are ye goin' with the flow?
Is yer sword a falchion?

Is yer sword a stick?
Are yer instas fancy quick?
Can ye make opponents cry
In just one single shiny lick?
Do ye take 'em out in style
Losin' but once in awhile?
Is yer sword a stick?

Aaaaaaaaaaand we're done!

The Doodle Reloaded is now closed!

Results

It was nice to see the mixture of contests revisited, although difficult to compare them in judging!

Honorable mentions include Thrynity, Pixieboot and Pletoo.
Panteraa and Redlucy get a special shout-out for joining the ranks of the Brave Singing Doodlers.

The winners today are Yetidave of Midnight, with the wrapping paper sword rack, and Gwiddon of Sage for a brilliant parody of "Do your ears hang low?".

I'll also have an overall wrap-up in the stickied thread.
While you wait for the results, take a look at the weekend Doodle!

Thank you again!

Zandia of Sage (12 minutes too late, but oh well...)
Daily doodle: Deck the forum

I didn't like the cluttered avi that I made, so I made this fishing scene with a star-fish, winter ornament, and a horn near a skull (currently occupied by a hermit crab).

Panteraa of Sage's entry!
Related Doodle: Parodies Found

Taken from Kingpriam's "Pirate Pokey" entry

Live performance of me (Panteraa) singing and playing a cheap acoustic guitar, recorded by a cheap microphone with lots of background noise using TotalRecorder.

Here is my uploaded entry!

Just caught this! WOW! :P
