Shipwrightery Bake-Off. Win a monkey! Reply to this Post
Reply with Quote

When: Sunday, October 29th, 5pm, PST
Host: Minthe

Note: Daylight Saving Time ends on October 29 in the United States. The bake-off happens at Pacific Standard Time, not Pacific Daylight Time.

Rules:
Joining
  • You must log on a character who is ranked Novice/Able at the puzzle. You may play the puzzle as much as you desire provided your character remains Novice/Able.
  • Application will begin an hour before the designated start-time for the bake-off, at 4pm, PST.
  • Send Minthe a tell with the name of your main pirate.
  • Take off Do Non Disturb.
  • Be patient. Do not send multiple tells.
  • You will be jobbed aboard the Shipwrightery Waiting Room.
  • You must remain aboard the vessel until cleared to leave. If you leave the vessel you will be disqualified.
  • You must remain jobbed into Minthe's crew for the duration of the contest. If you leave, you will be disqualified.

    Stat checking
  • Fifteen minutes before the start time (4:45pm, PST), jobbing will cease.
  • This time will be used to check the stats of everyone on board.
  • All members should take part in this checking.
  • When you check a player say, "[name] is too experienced" if they are not Novice/Able.
  • Minthe will double-check any mentioned and confirm.
  • Any players who do not have Novice/Able will be disqualified.

    Process
  • At the start-time, Minthe will say "Go".
  • Should anyone say "Go" or otherwise indicate that it is time to begin before Minthe, that person will be immediately disqualified and will likely be banned from all future bake-offs. Contestants are often jumpy and may not see who says what in their effort to begin quickly.
  • Leave the vessel and travel to a shipyard.
  • Play the shipwrightery puzzle repeatedly. Do the best you can.
  • Every time you advance an Ocean-wide rank, send Minthe a tell stating the rank you have achived. I will check this, note the time, and send a confirmation response.
  • In case there are multiple tells in a short time, your time will be logged even if the response is delayed.
  • Do not send tells when you increase in experience.
  • Continue this for one hour. Minthe will periodically broadcast the amount of time remaining.
  • When the hour has elapsed, Minthe will broadcast that time is up. You may then stop puzzling.
  • Any puzzles not completed when time is called will not count.
  • Reboard the Shipwrightery Waiting Room for declaration of winners and prize distribution.

    Winners
  • The winner will be the player who achieved the highest rank first.
  • Players will be ranked by how quickly they achieved the ranks.

    Prizes
  • First Place: A Beige Monkey; A Fancy Ribbon Trinket.
  • Second Place: An Ancient Calendar or a Golden Ticket for Booty or No Booty; A Fancy Ribbon Trinket.
  • Third Place: A Tortoise or a Golden Ticket; A Fancy Ribbon Trinket.
  • 4th-5th: A Golden Ticket; A ribbon trinket
  • 6th-10th: A ribbon trinket.
  • 11th-15th: A starfish.

YES! My favorite puzzle for a chance to win my favorite familiar - I am a happy Pirate :D I will be there!

Question - since we are logging on with an alt and sending our main name am I correct in assuming prizes will be inscribed with our main name?

Why oh why is it that when a bake off for a puzzle that I can actually perform well in appears, it's at a HORRIBLE time... noone in Europe can do 5pm as that is smack bang in the middle of the night... >_<

Umm, if I'm 14 so I have school on Monday... It would be 3am Monday and I would have less than 3 hours to sleep and a terrible headache (like always =P)... No thanks. I just hope some bake-off would be Europe time. But, good luck for everyone who can get into the event!

It really hurts when your first puzzle is a "Fine." If I wasn't such an idiot, I would have stopped there...

    Meh.
