Well there are times when i cant make blockades i really want to be in but i get really anxious and i want to know how things are going,
What if we had a website that is somehow linked to the current blockade status off all current ongoing blockades of all oceans,
I would feel much more reliefed if i knew,
WEhat do ye mates think??

I claim Faulkston's link. There is one thing that is kind of linked to that.

Just remembered about this! Left this for a few hours while playing Y!PP and just noticed it..

It's a great idea...hmm. I wonder if it is already possible to in fact view the blockade page in a browser (like public crew info and such) ?

This is something I could see adding to the mini-list of xml-rpc things we could hypothetically do. Basically, there are a number of things that we'd rather 'officially' support data export of, rather than having people try to reverse engineer our protocols or scrape our website. There are some security/performance issues that need to be worked out before we can open said xml-rpc type stuff up for public consumption.

Is this something that is something that is being currently worked on, or is it something thats on the list but not a priority?

I feel the urge to suggest SOAP, but I can't actually back it up with a great reason.

Simple Object Access Protocol. It's basically a fancied up xml-rpc.

soap is -really- heavyweight, and it's something that I don't particularly have a liking for. Yes, an xml-rpc stack is already implemented, for the curious, but it's for internal usage, such as automated querying of whether a pirate is online, how many people are on the servers, etc.

While waiting for the little Ringer tool, you could just suggest a good format for folks to add current scores to that wiki page. It wouldn't be completely the latest and the greatest, but it would be better than nothing. Just put a note on the Discussion page of current blockades and see if the community helps to do that kind of updating.

Along those lines, what about an automated email to flag royalty when a warchest is dropped against them? (Kinda like labor reports during the good ol' days of shop keeping.)

Kittyn did a fantastic job this weekend with live updates of the blockades as they went, mixed with some great tunes here and there (although we did make her wish with maxing them out for the very frist time at 100 users listening at once)

That isn't as simple solution for someone at a place of employment where they can't install a game (or likely install winamp), even if they wouldn't get in trouble for listening to internet radio (and eating up company bandwidth).

Furthermore, some of us would prefer an offical, independent source.

A webpage that you can just surf to in a browser without installing any plugins is the ideal.
