Duty puzzle videos now posted thanks to jamesnine :) Reply to this Post

I have:

8 minute sailing video - 12.8 megs
Starts with an excellent, moves to incredible, contains mainly combos, bingos and a donkey.
11 minute carpentry video - 14.3 megs
Probably the worst of the videos, mainly excellenst with an incredible thrown in
12 minute bilging video - 18.7 megs
12 minutes of me bilging in an interarch, mainly incredibles, about 4 bingos

I currently have characters in the top 10 in the ocean for all but carp, where I'm 9 in the diamond arch. If anybody has webspace and wants to host them it'd be appreciated :)

I've volunteered to host the videos for Sart:

http://files.redrussians.com/sart/bilging%20encode.rar
http://files.redrussians.com/sart/carpentry%20encode.rar
http://files.redrussians.com/sart/sail%20encode.rar

If ye have any questions about the files, please send a pm to the above poster, as I did not create them :)

To extract the files, use WinRAR.

Just a question: what did you encode those with? They're pretty big files to have lying around your HD...

Might have a comment on them later. We'll see.

I encoded them using divx 4.12. I tried using other codecs such as xvid or divx 5.05, however the quality degraded far too much when I attempted to make them smaller than 20 megs. As it is, the videos are smooth so you can see exactly what I did instead of the jumpiness common in most of the smaller encoded videos that people have put out.

Also, keep in mind that the videos are rather long (8, 11, and 12 minutes respectively).

PS: It's Sart jamesnine, not Sarf =)

These videos were posted nearly a year ago. They're probably no longer being hosted.

Someone needs to get his old nav video up there, or make a new one.

There are pirates needing the carpentry video-they posted in Game Design with the idea of watching someone do the puzzle to learn how to get good scores. Can someone really smart make a new one or something?

I have to kind of wonder how useful these videos will be two years later, if that's what it took to get increds and be Sart. Even stalling 10 seconds a move, you need to be doing about 3 times as many bingos in that time.

I have the nav video if anyone wants it... I can't host it as I hosted some world of warcraft vids that ate up all my bandwidth...

Media Player gives me the error: "ClassFactory could not supply the requested class". It looks like it's trying to download a codec, but maybe it's not getting through the firewall. I'm running version 7, though. Anyone know what to do for this?

Anyone got a vid like this for SF?

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found.

Can someone please provide the codecs?

Thanks, drc, that helped alot. By downloading the program (DivX Creator), I just installed the codec, and didn't install the player or the 6 month trial. Codecs went directly into Windows/system on install and Media Player was able to use it then .. Thank you!!
