Yes they can. Any pirate can, subscribed or not. And i know for sure, i got a hook on a non-subscribed character. ---------------------------------------- Pleun, First Mate of Monkey Militia, TO in Carpe Noctem, Midnight ocean, owner of the Dainty Dolphin and the Mystical Dragon. Yeah, but good luck getting the randomness to strike you. I've been sunk 49 times. Still no injury. And there are pirates walking around out there with 2 injuries! /me pouts It's not fair! ---------------------------------------- Sunny |

I have a theory that if you want something to badly you'll never get it. ---------------------------------------- Pleun, First Mate of Monkey Militia, TO in Carpe Noctem, Midnight ocean, owner of the Dainty Dolphin and the Mystical Dragon. Avatar made from artwork by Kagaya |

Your avatar made my head asplode. Animated avatars, while not totally uncommon, are frowned upon. Avatars that cause seizures (that I didn't create, my avartars cause seizures of joy) are really frowned upon. |

I dont' really think animated avatars are frowned upon, it'sjust that normaly the animation is a little more subtle. All avatars have to meet the size restriction, so there's not really a worry about it lagging out dial-up users. Images in the signature, on the other hand, are just downright not allowed. With reference to the original question: From talking to various people, it seems that your odds are somewhere in the area of 1 in 100 of getting an injury when a ship sinks (This is not in fact how it works, but it looks good on tv) and a further 1 in 3 to determine which one you get, so if you want one in particular, you could be looking at sinking yourself and 300 ships to get it. That stat comes mostly from the frequency of injuries on the large-scale "let's will a Grand Frig, and sink it to fish for injuries" parties people were having when injuries were first on the test server. |

Some pirates get an injury on their first sinking, Emerson got his pegleg on sinking number 95. ----------------------------------------

The flags of each ship involved have to be at war, or it has to be a sinking blockade. Blockades are huge events that can only happen on weekends where flags compete for control of islands. |

Lol. Alas, that cannot happen--the most ye can have is one hook, one patch, and one pegleg. No Monty-Pythonesque Black Knights will be seen upon these waters, arrr ---------------------------------------- Cleaver shouts, "I lub this island." Personally I think that TITS are a technique if they are used less than once every three moves. Any more than that, and you're just waving your exploits in their faces. - Flamer |
