Pro might have just had a bad sense of humor that moment. But at the same time, maybe there was another issue that brought this on. Edit to change, I should read slower. Cronus greeter chats, "Asking if someone speaks a specific language because you need help translating for a new player is one of the reasons for this chat." So can we get a quorum from the OMs? Or a more specific and nuanced statement we can put in the wiki for the difference between information from Prometheus and information from Cronus. In the interest of clarification and full disclosure: Asking for translation assistance is perfectly acceptable on the greeter channel and is wholeheartedly encouraged so that new players who speak another language can receive the assistance they need. However, to accurately represent the incident referred to in the OP: Using a another account after your main account was greeter blacklisted to ask the greeter chat what a specific phrase means because you believe it may be something offensive (that in no way, shape or form has anything to do with greenies, new players, or greeters) instead of using an online translator will, more than likely, end up with your greetership revoked. It was me. I was asked what removed . No one wanted to answer saying it meant something bad. It DOES mean something bad. I was asked to find out if it was curseing so Slimbutt could complain someone if it was. If this is not policy then it is a personal vendetta by Prometheous. Prometheous says it is not curseing for purposes of a complaint. Cut the on duty OM's some slack mates, they put up with all sorts of crap on greeter chat and things in general when they're online and it has to be said they are way more leiniant than what could be expected of them. Seems this is turning into a he said she said slangfest whereas in the world of the dictator there will only ever be one victor, and that is never gonna be the player. Rather than trying to get 1up on an OM look for the cause of the problem here which in my eyes is the newly updated greeter rules introduced a few months back. Its been well documented here in the forums that they're full of holes and have basically turned an already corrupt missused greeter chat into what is now a general Q&A. Theres several solutions to the problem in my eyes, address the numerous problems in the rules and stamp down on anything that isnt on a traditional dare I say it old school greeter theme and raise the bar for greetership eligability as to iron out the riff raff and improve the level of greetership in general. I'd prefer Prom and Cronus spend their time dealing with things ingame rather than them having to come here on the forums and defend themselves. Whilst the thread titles keep popping up with different names the problem remain the same, greetership nowadays is of a low standard thanks to inconsistancies and missleading coordination in general on an ongoing basis from the powers that be. ---------------------------------------- Rover of Viridian |

This seems a pretty clear case of, "If you don't need to use /greeter to find the answer, don't," to me. In normal conversation I'd say that the response was harsh, but if you're trying to figure out whether or not to /complain someone for offensive language in another language, just google it. If you must, use another chat channel - /greeter isn't the one for it, even if a greenie is doing the swearing. Slim, this is a key phrase. If the translation assistance request had nothing to do with directly helping a green-named player, then whoever it was that asked forfeited their "privilege" of being a greeter. If it did involve assisting a green-named player, the issue is a bit more complicated, but so far I haven't seen any claim by you that it did. -Vnork |

Most questions on greeter can be answered on yppedia yet they are not considered abusing the chat. Read my last post; I am asking OM's for objectivity and consistency. Prom should have wanted to know what the portuguesge phrase meant himself; he did not care; he said it was not cursing. Until it was posted here it WAS NOT anything bad. It was edited; yet when links are sent for editing of ass, prick, nazi and bullshit they are not edited. Why? Is this consistent? Edit a phrase once and others do know what it originaly was and will not use it. Edit; Vnork; This may be correct but think. How much is a starfish worth? How do you start a flag? What button do you push to blockade Aimurai? All accpetable greeter chat questions. Assuming that OM's are perfect; Prom should have taken action on the use of misspelling or translating to avoid the chat filter. No one should ever have tried to help him find out what the phrase meant. Prom is perfect he needs no help; he can translate all languages. From his past actions/inactions there is more to this than Prom is willing to tell. What I don't know. My greeter was removed for threatening to PvP someone. Per Promtheous; he gave no other reason. I said 'I am going to pvp you your crew and your flag.' The pirate I threatend was talking down my flag randomly inviting crews and blackspoted me for saying 'Your royals do greenie things.' The next day he blackspoted me because he thought I was going to attack him. He sent me a tell saying 'Your waiting outside of port for me. 'I responded. 'I am nowhere near your ship.' ( I was in battle an island away.) /blackspot #2. It took support 6 weeks to respond to this. They had to wait for another incident to use as an excuse rather than admit Prometeuos was wrong. I dare say Pro will not; can not; respond to this as it is the truth. As for using portuguese to evade chat filters. A tell to the offender would have made me happy. A response of I'll look into it would have sufficed. (I would never know if Pro did anything or not but such a resonse would have satisfied me.) Instead I was told there were no curse words used. Yet when it is posted here for all to see the same phrase deserves an edit. There is a solution. OM's should respond to all compalints/petitions with objectivity. 'Portuguese phrase' is much worse than greenie. I never thought this day would come, but I agree with Slim on this one. And this doesn't fit just on greeter-related stuff and action taken by OMs, it's in general. [redacted] OM was online when I asked for a specific vessel rename, "Lee Nyele", which is standard, and nowhere offensive OR hard to spell, but the OM declined it because it wasn't adjective/fishname. Which... actually *is*. I did gave a 1/5 rating and explained the issue on the detail box below the rating mechanism. The next day, [another redacted] OM made my rename, with no objections, questions or inquiries. Even though I know that the YPPedia polices on renames says to "not shop around for OMs when a name is rejected", this name was not rejected for spelling difficulties, obscenity, or failure to stick to the renaming rules so I had the right to ask for another OM for help. It was for plain OM stupidity or lazyness. (examples of my proposed rejected names in order: Immunoelectrophoretic Cow for difficulty by Castor, Crazy Bastard for obscenity by Aphrodite, Bear tooth --which the fishname is tooth-carp, for failure to sticking to the rules by Castor, too.) ---------------------------------------- Quitex everywhere, Incluyendo Jade. OMs do make mistakes. This isn't the situation to bring it up in relation to, though, I don't think. The more you go through OOO's methods, the more likely it is that the bureaucratic aspects of it won't work against you. If petitions don't work, try support.
